I bought the 50 pair bag of heel taps, with nails. Each tap has a sticky underside, protected by a quite plastic cover. I found this very convenient to help stick and hold the tap in place on the heel, prior to nailing. The nails provided are proper nails for the purpose and are the right length for use on heels. The heel taps themselves are of excellent quality and durability. I find it difficult to fault the product – it is excellent for the purpose intended. Tony G from Brisbane Australia.

In our family we all seem to really wear down our heels a lot. The shoes are in good shape, but the heels are shot in no time and replacements nowadays are quite expensive, so we've started to use these heel plates as a way to give us a bit more wear on our shoes and that's worked very well for us.
Shoe repair shops will charge $5 or more for a set of these and this offer was for 50 pair for less than the price of 6 pair. Okay, it's more than most of us need, but I have them now on 5 pair in my closet and have put them on several pairs of shoes for each of my daughters and my wife with another 39 pair in reserve as these wear down and already saved the a lot over what it would have cost to bring them to a shop to have done.
One problem I had was getting the right size heel tap. I bought the large, but they're not very big and I see now that I would have been happier with the extra large size for my shoes, while my girls probably would have preferred something smaller. The pictures online are not very helpful so if you have concerns, you might want to test by buying a smaller number of the different sizes before committing to a larger purchase like I did.
The heel plates however are simple to mount on your shoes. Simply peel off the paper backing and position them where you normally get the most wear on your heels. Then take out three of the included nails and hammer one into each hole of the tap. You might have a problem doing this without having a solid support to hammer the nail against. This is easily remedied using a small block of wood.. a small piece of 2x4 works well for most adult shoes...placed on the floor and then position one end inside the shoe under the heel. Took me maybe 15 minutes to do 5 pairs of shoes.

The heel taps were nice. It will save me on trips to the shoe repair shops that are getting harder to find. They work great on my boots but I should have ordered a smaller size so I could use them on my wife's shoes as well.

I always use heel taps to keep my heels from wearing prematurely. These are reasonably priced, but don't seem to last as long as others I've had in the past. Also, prior taps came with ridged nails which were difficult to pull out of a rubber heel. These have smooth nails and pull out too easily.

Absolutely horrible quality. The SoleTech heel saver brand was shipped to me in May, 2014, whereas previously Amazon had sent the Step brand. After finally exhausting my supply of of the Step heel savers, which typically lasted 40+ miles, I finally tried the SoleTech. They barely lasted 10 miles before disintegrating and falling off my shoes. Also, the bag of nails and tacks sent had very few hardened spiral nails, the kind needed for rubber soled walking shoes. It is strongly recommended that you do not purchase the SoleTech brand as they are no match for the Step brand's quality. I now have 49 pair of SoleTech heel savers going straight to the trash. What a waste. Thanks Amazon.

These are very large. Too large for all of my shoes and boots except one pair of flat boots with a very wide heel base. I've cut a few and have been able to use on some other boots. You have to cut them in a way that only the finished edge shows or it looks horrible (even though it's on the bottom of your shoe - it shows).

Also, I knew the taps were going to come in a ziplock bag thanks to someone else's comment, but I didn't expect the tacks/nails to be packaged in a flimsy folded piece of paper. Ridiculous! Now what am I supposed to do with all these loose tacks. Very poor packaging!

As others have said, this is a big improvement over the name brand packaging, which has both large and small sizes. These are all the same, and perfect for men's shoes. They also have three nail holes, instead of the two plus a staple of the name brand. I'm not sure if all the nails are the same size, but they all work. My sense is that these may be wearing a little bit faster than the name brand, but I haven't actually recorded dates. In any event, it's not obvious enough to keep me from buying them again.

I tend to wear out only on one side of my heels. These heel tabs really save the heels and extend the life of my shoes much longer.
The price $28.44 was very good for 50 pairs of taps and the S&H was free. Oh...the shipping was FAST ! Great services.
