From Booklist
Moxie Brecker had her dream job as a -middle-school science teacher, but it proved to be too much; so now she is living in a small, run-down apartment and working at a lingerie store in the mall. She spends her days folding undergarments, fending off a recidivist shoplifter, and lunching at the food court with her best friend. Except for an occasional conversation with her mysterious neighbor Steven Tyler, her life outside the store is just as monotonous as inside it. For a time, a handsome, repeat customer seems to lift her out of her funk; but he soon disappoints her. So what's special about this book? Moxie's dead-on observations of the world around her, and her wry and cynical way of expressing them. When she finally figures out why she's depressed, she is able to get out of her rut; but, happily, her humor remains just as sharp and enjoyable. Maria Hatton

Review
“My favorite kind of read: warm and perceptive, smart, funny and bittersweet. Lovely.” (Elizabeth Young, author of A Girl's Best Friend )
