5.0 out of 5 stars Chicago winter here I come!
I ordered these on Sunday night and they were here Tuesday afternoon. At first, I was really afraid they were going to be ugly (for the sake of function) and too big (I got a 40 EU and I wear an 8 1/2 US). Well, when I took them out of their huge box, they were like the best Kwanzaa gift you couldn't wait to get! They look so nice with my skinny jeans and generally fit...

These boots are very cute and stylish. I can't say they have the most support, but they would do well in the snow. I had to return them though because they were too small in the calf. This is not the boot for you if you have larger calves.

They look so nice with my skinny jeans and generally fit the bill for casual, functional and attractive boots. I am a college student who walks a great deal on a large campus and in the city. I know these are going to keep my feet warm and dry in these long, hard Chicago winters (unlike my Bearpaw and On Your Feet boots that were leaking moisture after being put to work for about 3 months). If you want an alternative to the overwhelming trend that is Ugg-like boots, I highly recommend these. I like to be as thorough as possible with my posts so pple won't have to search for reviews like I do so long story short: They are fashionable, you'll never beat the price, obviously durable, very confident tread on the sole, and stupidly warm. I looked at them and thought: how can these expensive shoes (retail $200, folks!) be so thin. Yep...put my bare right foot in them for about 1 minute and I could feel my own body heat circulating inside of the shoe keeping my foot warm. It's a heat trap that I can't describe, but my feet are always cold, and I can honestly say my right foot is still warmer than my bare left foot though I've taken the boots off about 10 minutes ago. I think this Chicago winter will be a pretty warm one:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Boot!, January 17, 2008

I've been through so many pairs of snow boots and I'm so glad I bought this pair! I live in NYC and finding a boot that's warm, waterproof, and super cute is pretty difficult to find (forget Uggs). I hate bulky boots, this pair is so light and comfortable! I love the fact that this boot is very practical (really, does it make sense to have a wedged snow boot?) and that I can trudge around in these boots in Vermont over the weekends too! Size runs pretty true to size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy a half size bigger!!!, December 14, 2009

I am usually a size 7 1/2, but I read other reviews and went with a size 39. It fits well. I probably would be able to get into a 38, but not with a good sock. The larger size does not take away from good traction, that is, I don't feel like I'm wearing clown shoes, so I'm sticking with the 1/2 size up.

These boots are lined with a thin layer of shearling. They are very light weight, not at all bulky, and the sole is form fitting, (not like swimming in giant uggs) but they will still need a good heavy sock in cold weather, I think. They are waterproof, but the insulation doesn't snuggle around the lower leg and ankle. This is kind of better in the rain and not so cold weather, I think.

The boots look cool, not at all clunky or ugly (I bought the black pair, so they are not like "wow, I'm flourescent orange" -- though the orange ones might be cool too :)

Other reviews complain that they take some effort getting in to, but I find they slip right on and off when I leave the laces uncinched. Yeah, ok, when 3 feet of snow falls, I'm going to have to tighten them, but for now, in the rain and slush, they are quite comfortable and easy to wear uncinched.

The only thing I wish is that they were closer to my knee. I know we are going to get 3 feet of snow this year :( These boots are about 13" high, about 3-4 inches below the knee. All in all, very useful and practical for Boston weather.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT waterproof!, December 22, 2010
This review is from: Pajar Women's Grip Boot (Apparel)
I was really excited to try these boots. They fit well and are lightweight, which is great because I needed a pair of boots I could wear while frolicking in the snow with my dog. However, after the very first time I wore them, they were wet on the inside! The boots were properly laced up and tightened at the top, so there is no way snow came in through the top of the boot. To make matters worse, they stayed wet inside for days!

Luckily, these boots are guaranteed waterproof for 6 months, so I called the company and will return them for a full refund (I bought them directly from the manufacturer, so I could not return them to a store). Luckily, I live in the same city as the head office (Montreal), otherwise I would have had to pay for shipping!

I am sad these boots aren't what they claim to be, because they are comfortable and stylish.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fashionable but NOT warm, December 25, 2010

Minnesota winters require warmth, comfort, water resistance and style (if you are lucky). I thought I had the perfect combination with these boots. They are light weight and so cute, but not warm. They were shipped back and I'm now wearing the North Face Adrianne which are much warmer (and I still get tons of compliments). The sole support is better in the NF and they are much warmer. If you tend to be a warm person, you may not have the same problem with these Pajar but I was surprised to read that women in Chicago and NY thought these boots were warm. I even tried wearing them around the house with smartwool wool socks and my feet were still cold. I wouldn't recommend calling their company for any assistance. It's a joke.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pajar boots, March 9, 2011

I live in cold, snowy Maine and I can't explain how much I love these boots! I am in my thirties and these are the best winter/rain boots I have ever owned. They are also very stylish and I receive tons of complements. No one here has heard of Pajar and they aren't sold at US stores, so I love being the only one to have them. The Pajar website describes them as the "rolls royce" of boots, and they are right. They are super soft and warm, as well as completely waterproof and are true to size. I would not recommend going a size bigger or smaller. If you have large calves these may not be the boots for you, as they fit the calf snuggly. If you buy them don't tell anyone where you got them, I want them to stay special!!!!

These are not warm -- there is only a thin lining in the foot area. They are ok if you are in & out of the car, but are not good for long periods outside -- eg, walking the dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Winter BOOT ever!, November 24, 2010
This review is from: Pajar Women's Grip Boot (Apparel)
I have been wearing these boots for 2 winters now, and the comments I get are crazy! Everybody loves the look of the boot....BUT most important...I love these boots. I can wear them all day long and it feels like bare feet! I wore them all day yesterday in my house and didn't even realize it until night time when I went to go to bed. They keep you totally warm also. My toes are never cold when I wear these. They are light weight and they grip the snow really well. I am sure I will have these boots for years and years. YEAH! FOR PAJAR!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ineptly Designed & Manufactured, January 7, 2012
This review is from: Pajar Women's Grip Boot (Apparel)
The pattern and cut for this boot is completely wrong. I was concerned when I excitedly took them out of the box and noticed the unusual shape of the sole. It was too wide at the heel and then too boxy toward the toes -- barely foot shaped at all. Trying them on confirmed the ineptness of the design -- wrong proportions. The instep was snug and buckled oddly, and across the width it was a bit tight, then too wide around the toes. (They were too snug in the calves too, but I have had that problem with other boots on occasion.) I haven't seen a shoe this badly designed in terms of the basic shape since for decades, and those were 3 dollar plastic shoes. But this is not coming from Kazakhstan, the company is Canadian!
I am heartbroken because I fell in love with these after I first saw them in a store window a few weeks ago. I then had to search high and low for the color I wanted in my size (Amazon didn't have it, unfortunately), and finally found it. I still love everything about the way they look, but they are not $20 boots, they were expensive! They are going back.
