I never get tired of listening. I play her CD's periodically and am filled with the same sense of pleasure as when I first discovered her music. I keep waiting for more.

When I first heard the melodies emanating from my radio back in the late 1980's that eventually became associated with Basia, I thought I had died and gone to Richard Rogers/Leroy Anderson/Tom Jobim Jazz/Broadway/Latin rock Heaven (if there is such a convoluted place!)This collection of three of her five albums (and don't forget Danny White's input!) will satisfy the curious but fail to fulfill the devoted who know there is more out there, thus failing to complete the picture. Still, since this collection is made available it propels the hope to the surface held by ALL Basia afficianados that the market exists for more product, and that someday SOON she and Danny will again collaborate for a new album.

Basia defined.,

Basia, since releasing her original album 'Time and Tide' along with co-collaborator, Danny White, has managed to incorporate latin finger-tapping rhythms and inventive orchestrations with a genuinely pleasurable vocal technique. This collection is the crux of those elements. While her style tends toward Samba, she modulates her lyrics with a heavy emphasis on difficult subject matter. Whether paying homage to famed chanteuse Astrud Gilberto ("Astrud"), explaining the poor timing of an affair ("Cruising for Bruising"), or merely reveling in amorous exuberance ("Baby You're Mine"), Basia shines. The brillance of the harmonies--accentuated by talented musical breaks on White's part--sets her music apart. Truly an accomplished artist, Basia is certainly to become only more popular among her limited, but devoted audience.

I will never forget seeing her in concert. She is so unassuming and gives selflessly of her brilliant talent. The crowd loved it with a standing ovation for several minutes. This collection here is so very reminiscent and brings back many good memories. That's what her music does for you. It's like a spa for the mind. It is so very smooth and her music frequently is played in radio stations having a smooth jazz genre. Personally, I'm clueless as to what genre her music is because it is so original. My only hope is that she will return to recording her music.

Basia at her best,
This review is from: 3 Pak: Time & Tide / London Warsaw / Sweetest (Audio CD)
Basia is by far one of the most original and gifted entertainers around. Her music, while maybe not as mainstream as I would like, is still some of the best around. Her style and sense of lyric and melody make this a must-have collection. I have played her "Live on Broadway" CD non-stop for the past week - it is that good - especially Copernicus. Indeed, Basia live is Basia at her best. I only wish that she would release her live show on VHS/DVD.

It is some of the best music made and original.Too many of todays musical tastes are for a much younger audience.Nothing anyone over 25 would listen to and enjoy.I wish Basia would make another CD or cassette.
