A compact and stark recording of Rodgers & Hart,
By Damien Slattery (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pal Joey (1980 London Cast) (Audio CD)
This is a solid version of the classic Richard Rodgers score. Recorded in 1980, from the London revival production starring Denis Lawson and Sian Phillips. Despite the fact that the material is of a Chicago 1940s milieu, the British cast equip themselves very well and the album is a very snazzy and dry rendition of the score. One or two of Larry Hart's lyrics have been updated and some new orchestrations are performed by a wonderful orchestra. They and the arrangements are probably the most outstanding elements of this version.

broken jewel case,

This review is from: Pal Joey (1980 London Cast) (Audio CD)
The CD came nice and quick, but when it arrived it was rattling around in the case, as the spiral was completely broken. This could have damaged the disc, and I have had to replace the case. They should be careful not to send out broken cases.
