This review is from: Palace of the Silver Princess (AD&D Fantasy Roleplaying, Module B3) (Paperback)
B3: Palace of the Silver Princess is a D&D (Basic Set rules) adventure module for characters of level one to three. This module comes complete with the outline of a campaign area, with a nation, several cities and towns, and some major non-player characters spelled out. The module itself focuses the players on a legendary gem stone of great value, that was held by the beautiful "Silver Princess", that is now lost. To retrieve the stone, the characters will need to brave the abandoned palace of the princess, and overcome some terrible monsters.
Now, what can I say about this module? I must admit to being somewhat disappointed with it. The module itself is not completely fleshed out, so as to "allow" the Dungeon Master to modify it to his or her tastes. However, I can modify a finished module as easily as an unfinished one - perhaps more so. Also, it must be remembered that this module came out in 1981, the same year as A1-4: the Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords modules, four of the truly great 1st edition AD&D modules. And, this module does not hold a candle to them.
But, having said that, am I saying that this is a lousy module? No, not really. In fact, this module does contain the rudiments of a fascinating campaign, in the form of the nation of Gulluvia, and many of the monsters and traps in the palace are quite fascinating and fun. So, if you are looking for a D&D (Basic Set) module, or an AD&D (1st or 2nd edition) module (which this can be modified to quite easily), then this is well worth taking a look at.
