Janelle Taylor, known through the most of her book as (Mo) Monique, which is her middle name. She didn't believe in God because the way her life was going. She lost her mother when she was 14 to breast cancer. She was a teenager who was left in the care of her step-father and step brother after her mother's death; eventually runs away and turns to stripping.

She is introduced to stripping by her cousin Nikki, who works at the Pink Palace. On the set at the Pink Palace you will find hustlers and ballers who are willing to spend top dollar for their hearts desire.

The beautiful Monique is introduce to the sexy hustler Tommy Holloway who she immediately falls head over heels for, and the feelings are mutual for Tommy. Tommy has a different view then the other hustlers that come through the Pink Palace and Monique loves every bit of it. She knows that Tommy has secrets and is surrounded by trouble, but is she willing to find out what those secrets are? Is Tommy the wrong guy or just another trick? Mo' must make her choice, and the choice she choose may be the last dance.

The Pink Palace by Marlon Mccaulsky is a great read. I do applaud Marlon McCaulsky for the editing and writing his first debut. I'm sure the next read by Marlon will be great. The Pink Palace is a must read that will keep you wanting more to the very end.

I keep going back this book even though I read this back in April. Its a book that I keep in my collection. It kept my interest. At first I was kinda afraid to read it in public because of the cover.. still am till this day. But not even a cover can stop me from reading this book. Loved the story. I know Pink Palace II is out, sadly I can't find it at any local bookstores here & Amazon isn't selling it for themselves only from sellers :( So ... I guess I'll never know part 2. Otherwise I would recommend this book to others if you want a book that will not disappoint.

After reading Romance For The Streets, I had to get the Pink Palace too. And I'm glad I did! I loved this book. It was very different then his `My Boo' story in RFTS but just as captivating. I loved the first person style for each character and Janelle was my favorite. The poor girl had to go through so much just to get away from her nasty and perverted stepfather and Damien's crazy behind! I loved Tommy and the sex scenes with him and Janelle were juicy! I felt sorry for Nikki near the end.

But this was a good read but I can see Marlon's style of writing was more advance in Romance For The Streets so this tells me he's growing as an author. I'm definitely getting his next book! The Pink Palace is a real grimy, suspenseful, and fast pace ride filled with unexpected twists and turns I didn't see coming! Great job!

This was a good read, I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like about the book is that it was to fast. I think there could have been more to the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars The hottest strip club in Atlanta!!!, November 5, 2008

This review is from: The Pink Palace (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
First of all let me say The Pink Palace by Marlon McCaulsky was a refreshing and exciting read full of sexy scenes that will make even Zane blush!

The Pink Palace set in Atlanta gives you a look at the life of Janelle Taylor aka Mo'Nique, a stripper running from her past. Janelle's cousin Nikki Bell put her in the game and is hustling Damien a stone cold killer from New York taking over Atlanta. Janelle ends up meeting Tommy Holloway, Damien's partner in crime who is not your average trick. Janelle and Tommy fall in love but he has a secret that could tear them apart forever. Damien is more dangerous and ambitious then anybody really knows and has an agenda all of his own. When Damien decides he wants Janelle too things start to fall apart and everybody's life is in danger.

I couldn't put this book down! The Pink Palace is one of the best books I've read this year. The love scenes in this book will leave you wanting more. So hot that you feel like you are there! I love the way each of the main character's told the story from their point of view and how Marlon masterfully entwine their perspective into a non-stop suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. I finished this book in one night! Marlon McCaulsky has really set the bar high on his debut novel. I can't wait for his next book!

What happens to a young lady when her mother dies when she is fourteen and leaves her with her stepfather and stepbrother? You can probably expect the worst, which is exactly why Janelle Monique Taylor becomes a runaway, who survives the mean streets in Atlanta by dancing at The Pink Palace. As a runaway, she ends up living with her seventy-seven-year-old aunt where she becomes reacquainted with her "supposedly" successful cousin, Nikki. Nikki convinces Janelle to become a stripper to make that almighty dollar.

Janelle adopts the alias, Monique, as her new stripper name. She is actually a good dancer due to her prior dance training. Since she is extremely beautiful and knows how to strut her stuff, she makes good money. Many big spenders frequent The Pink Palace and tip both Monique and Nikki well. Nikki begins dating Damien, second in charge under kingpin Dwayne 'King' Smith, who taught him everything he knows and more than he should. Anxious to be in charge, Damien begins plotting to take over. In the meantime, he introduces his trusted, new partner-in-crime Tommy to Monique. Seeking power, the devious, backstabbing Damien sets off all kinds of turf wars with various street factions, while trying to become the richest baller on the streets. He is loyal to no one.

Marlon McCaulsky's story, THE PINK PALACE, is a well-written, action-packed, satisfying novel filled with plenty of street drama, suspense and mystery, which keeps you reading and turning the pages. Readers who are looking for street fiction will thoroughly enjoy this solid story about relationships, choices and dealing with the perils of trying to make money, while participating in illegal activity. This is a must read for people who seek quick gratification, rather than education.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Job Marlon, June 23, 2008
This review is from: The Pink Palace (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Lately, I've only read a couple of books that have truly grabbed by attention and held it, but Marlon got me with this one!

This novel tells the story of Janelle Mo'Nique Taylor. A young woman who runs away from home to escape the hell of her step father. She ends up dancing at a club through the convincing of her cousin, Nikki. Nikkis a conniving gold digger whose life is headed in a downward spiral as she looks for the next come up. But the question is, will her gold digging ways finally catch up with her?

As No'Nique enters the stripping world to survive, she's faced with all kinds of drama and hidden secrets. One night a chance encounter with an out of town hustler named Tommy, forces drastic changes in her life. The changes are ones that she never expected, and a love that takes her by surprise.

Take a trip to the Pink Palace. A place where the ballers ball, and women like Nikki try to take it all. A place where you'll meet some of the grimest people, and some that ya'll just love.

Marlon did a great job with this one! He allows you to see the characters in all dimensions, and puts a twist on things to the point to where you're surprised. This novel is like a movie. As you turn the pages, you can see the story unfolding in your mind. I can't wait to read more of his work.
