5.0 out of 5 stars high quality gold plated system compatible plugs for Paladin crimp, February 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Paladin 9653 RG59 RCA SealTite Compression Connectors, 10-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased these to connect my dish receiver in another room to my windows media center system which actually gave me free DVR capability from dish network in the end. RG-58 was the proper size for the audio.

Some quick tips:

use paladin's tool for folding back the shield and trimming it to length with these compression fittings. It ensures the best fit when compression begins.

Cable tends to come from rolls and has a natural curve to it - take this curve out before putting the connector on. Ideally you'd like the cable to lay flat and straight so that the center pin will go into the socket for it inside the crimp

Measure twice and cut once. The package will show you that you need 1/4" of braid and 1/4" of center conductor, but it also suggests you place the prepared cable up against the connector to see where the center pin will end up and where the teflon foam will stop.

Finally test fit it and use a cotinuity tester like the Fluke T5-1000USA,Electic Tester 1000V,Continuity, to ensure that there is not a short between center probe and ground and also use the tester to make sure the center pin has continuity to the opposite end of the cable. This will prevent you from wasting a $1.70 connector because the preparation wasn't right

These also make great Y-PR-PB cables for HD extensions to projectors or remote sets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great with proper tool, February 1, 2009

These connectors work great for making high quality coax patch cables. Note that these are "compression" connectors, not "crimp" connectors. Use the right tool and these work much better than crimp on connectors. Paladin Tools 70052 Compression Crimper

got these as it was simpler than replacing the cable for my dvd player in the car, they work okay, but I wasted the first 5 or so by over crimping them and the barrel cracked and broke (I didn't buy the manufacturers crimping tool, just used a standard crimping tool). so a careful balance between under crimping (the connector slides off from the cable) to over crimping (the connector barrel cracks and falls off the cable) - they really could do with a better strain relief mechanism too - as it's too tempting for my kids to pull the cable rather than the connector to detach from the dvd player. I wouldn't buy these again.
