I'm a recent convert to Marsha Canham's work and I love her style. Epic in scope and meticulous in detail, her well-written historical novels are an invitation to another world for a few hours, and I've enjoyed every trip I've taken with her.

Pale Moon Rider is no exception to that rule. It's a swashbuckling tale of a resourceful beauty in distress and a reluctant highwayman hero drawn against his will into a scheme to save her from a truly unpleasant fate.

If you haven't read any Marsha Canham before, you're in for a treat with Pale Moon Rider. If you have read her other works, then smile, because you've got another great one to look forward to!

I have been a strong fan of Marsha Canham. I loved this book. At first I thought that Captain Starlight was an ordinary 'Robin Hood' but he is not that type of highwayman. This Tyrone Hart is not ordinary. He is literate and he can play the piano very well. The love between Tyrone and Renee paces very quickly. Their adventures are breathtakingly thrilling. The intrigues are well created. The sensuality is sizzling. There are quite descriptive sex scenes. One and only flaw of this book is an unaccuracy in historical fact that Chopin wasn't born until 1810 and the setting of this story is 1796. I didn't know why this occurred to the author who is otherwise very accurate when it comes to historical facts. I hope she will fix it if there is to be a reissue. After all Marsha Canham never disappoints me. I would highly recommend this book.

I have always been a Marsha Canham fan and this book does not disappoint. Tyrone and Renee's story, as has been commented upon before, is not your typical highwayman story. That she does not follow the "Robinhood" theme as most of these stories do, is quite refreshing. Tyrone is a great charater who has depth and personallity, unlike most of the cardboard cutout characters which are written today. I also appreciated the fact that Ms. Canham does not forget what her characters have done in the story. Tyrone is hurt, as the story progresses, we see how this handicaps him in dealing with the "bad guys". He limps, and breaks out in a sweat, etc...he doesn't miraculously recover and fight evil with nary a misstep. Most authors forget that no matter how great their heros are, they are still human, Tyrone is definitely human.

Such care is also taken with Renee. I felt that her character was not quite as strong as Tyrone's but there is depth to her. Fighting her way through a war torn France, especially as a highly placed aristocrat, was not an easy task. Her brother was left mute at the horrors he witnessed, and she had to deal with that as well. Renee had help, which leads us to the secondary characters of the story, who really made the whole plot come together. The plot was richly interwoven with dispicible deeds, great writing and colorful characters.

I only have a few small problems with the story. After going through so much trouble to record the feelings of horror that the aristocrats in France must have felt and the care that they took to try and secure their futures outside France, I felt it was a bit shabbily done that Ms. Canham misplaces (in time)someone as famous as Chopin. I also felt she rushed the end. I don't want to give away the plot, but, what happened to the uncle? Are we waiting for a sequel with her brother to right that wrong? A brief mention was made by Roth that Paxton ran, but there was no confirmation of this and no real care about it. I realize they had plenty of money but wouldn't you try to find him on principle? Anyway, this was a great read, so don't miss it!!!

As a longtime fan of Marsha Canham, I was thrilled by the release of PALE MOON RIDER. Canham writes vivid, complex, lusty romances with some of the best heroes and heroines in the genre. Highwayman Tyrone Hart is a prototypical Canham hero -- strong, yet willing to be vulnerable in matters of the heart. Renee D'Anton, a survivor of the French revolution, is his perfect match. When I've finished a Canham romance I always feel that I not only know her characters, but will remember them. The little thrill I felt upon mention of the name Eduard FitzRandwulf, the hero of her novel IN THE SHADOW OF MIDNIGHT, is proof of her characters' staying power. In PALE MOON RIDER, Marsha only made one small, eminently forgivable faux pas: she had Tyrone playing Chopin before Chopin was born!

Canham definitely has a new fan here, following up Pride of Lions & Blood of Roses with this fantastic story.

I was on the edge of my seat through this entire book it seems. The hero & heroine & villains are in such close proximity the entire time that I was constantly on edge for something to go wrong...in a most delicious way. The hero is unabashedly UNapologetic for his lifestyle; he is not troubled or tormented, there is no deep pain rooted in his past. I found that refreshingly different. The heroine is a refugeee from the French revolution, towing along a younger brother & a humorously stiff but protective servant.

Pale Moon Rider is well written, fast moving, and just has all the right elements of a great romance; passion, humor, excitement, drama, tenderness.

Ms Canham, I put you right up there with my other favorite, Penelope Williamson. You have a beautiful skill for 'making it real' and drawing us deeply into a story.

What took me so long before I discovered this author?!!!Reading romance books for a long time, I thought I'd found some authors who always write good books they've become my fevourite authors. Never had I found an author whose writing style suit my romance fantasy copletely ..not until found this author of my dream! When I read this book and enjoyed every part of it I realized how I love romantic adventure. Combinding a heart-warming love story with heart-stoping excitements, Marsha Canham wrote a terrific story that contained all ingredients I've ever wanted in a book. Now it's a mission of my life to hunt for the rest of her books, hope they'll be as good as this one!

After reading Marsha Canham's The Pride of Lions, I was quite put off by her writing, but I decided to give her another chance. Since reading Pale Moon Rider I have not left a single one of her books unread. Pale Moon Rider was wonderful.

I loved the highwayman plot, and I thought it was interesting that Tyrone wasn't the kind of Robin Hood character, that doesn't steel for himself but gives his riches away. Tyrone made no secret of the fact that he stole for the joy of stealing. I enjoyed that immensly.

The characters were all wonderful. The interactions between Renee and Tyrone were marvolously done, it was easy to see what they were feeling and why. Tyrone was very human and I liked that, often he was injured but he didn't just miracoulously heal like heroes have a tendancy to do. His injuries affected the plot. Renee was wonderful too, she was smart and honest and wasn't overly stubborn or fiesty like many heroines are. I liked the part about her past, and her relationship with her brother.

The plot of the book was fast paced and exciting, although ending seemed a little bit hasty and left a few threads hanging. The richness of the characters and the plot more than made up for the weaknesses.

Altogether I thought this book was marvoulous. It's a definate "keeper."

If you like swashbuckling tales, you'll love this one. The hero is a highwayman, and the heroine is a refugee from the French Revolution.

Tyrone aka Captain Starlight doesn't know what to make of Renee. He knows she is trying to help the authorities capture Starlight. Yet at the same time, she doesn't want to see him captured.

With a plot like this, "Pale Moon Rider" could have turned into another romance about a bitter hero who feels betrayed. Luckily, Marsha Canham avoided that trap. Just as Tyrone avoids a number of traps as well...

Also, except for the little "Chopin" slip, this is a well-researched romance.

I picked it up thinking it would be another stretched out Regency featuring all the standard and sedentary points on manners, the ton, clothes and promenades, but wow. Was I wrong. A public thank you, Irene, for recommending it to me . I owe you one. Tyrone was a magnificent hero, the story was exciting and kept me reading straight through to three in the morning! Bravo Ms Canham for putting some adventure back into an overworked era.

One of my favorite books is "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and this story comes really close to the excitement & romance of the period. Great hero and perfect ending. Highly recommended reading for adventure fans.
