I started giggling when I read a few of these recipes, then called my paleo buddy over and had him take a look. He sighed and let his shoulders slump. "I'm not impressed!"
I wasn't either.
The first several recipes involve honey, coconut milk, 1-2 fruits, ice, and a blender. Another clever recipes involves celery, almond butter, and blueberries.
Some of these are less than inspired, and the spelling and grammar is pretty rough as well.
Stick around until you get to some of the interesting roasted veggies and flavored nuts, however, and things get more interesting.
I'm glad I got this as a freebie, and I wouldn't give it a hearty endorsement, but there's a couple of recipes in here I'll actually try. If you happen upon this recipe book, I suggest at least flipping through everything in there. Really, not all the recipes are as silly as the first ones!

I've discovered this new series of recipe books by Amanda Matthews, and have decided to go back on the Paleo or "caveman" diet as it's also known. The wonderful selection of snack recipes is perfect for when you get hungry between Paleo meals, and since they adhere to the dietary contraints- it technically isn't cheating! Nice!
All the recipes are quick and easy, and although they are meant as snacks, many of these would work just as well as a light meal if you aren't really that hungry. Perfect!

I didn't like this book at all. The snacks aren't very interesting. I think most people can figure out how to eat a raw veggie or raw fruit without a recipe.

Sorry, but this is just a very disappointing recipe book. Most of the recipes are so basic that you don't really need a recipe (Blueberry logs - celery, almond butter, blueberries... think you can figure out the rest. Grape & Nuts - grapes and nuts tossed in cinnamon). The one recipe I did try was Crispy Baked Apple Chips. The temperature indicated was way too hot and burned the apples in about 20 minutes (was supposed to cook for 45-60 on each side). I then looked up other similar recipes and they all said 200 (rather than 375 as indicated in this book). These recipes could not have been tested, or maybe the book was just not proofed for accuracy. Fortunately, I got it free because it would not be worth paying for. I appreciate that the author wants to help people eat Paleo, but unfortunately I don't think this book is that helpful.

my set and purchase the snack book as well. I figured there might be one or two good recipes, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that almost every recipe looked delicious. There are some twists on the usual snacks; smoothies, trail mix, guacamole etc, but what I really liked were the unique recipes such as blueberry celery logs and crispy baked beets. Delicious and nutritious, what more could I ask for. Another great book for a Paleo lifestyle collection.

My daughter is on the Paleo diet. This has some interesting snacks, not only for yourself but if you are entertaining. I think you will find this book interesting if you are on this diet, even if you're not, I would suggest you look at it, you may find something very interesting that you'll like.
