This good explanation of Paleo describes the plan in detail and explains the benefits. Tasty recipes based on simple meats, fruits, and vegetables abound in the pages. This is a great way to transition from processed foods to the fresh and tasty.

However, the book receives a reduced rating for two reasons. One, the starting chapters are the typical Gluten is Evil fashionable claptrap. This is not true for all people and new research proves this. Second, this is still a fad diet and the book reads like a fad diet—big promises with a superiority complex.

I consider this a good guide to move away from processed foods. However, the fad diet language is a huge turn off for me.

Founded on the premise of our ancestors and their healthier diets, the Paleo diet mimics the “caveman’s” dietary habits. Using modern equivalents, this diet is based on the theory that the human body has not yet adapted to grain-based nourishment. Grains contain gluten which leads to a variety of diseases. The idea of this diet is to eliminate all processed foods, grains, processed sugars, oils and dairy products from your diet. Foods on the diet include: meats, fish, seafood; eggs and veggies; fruits; healthy fats; nuts and seeds.
Ideas on how to transform your kitchen and pantry; use of tools and equipment to enhance your recipes; as well as maintaining your diet at work, home and eating out are included. Detailed meal plans guide you through a gradual transition. “Ten Steps” guide you through the switch to this diet and make it successful along with a questionnaire to help you analyze and decide your relationship with food.
By seeking a reverse evolution diet standard, you can choose to pursue a diet that aids in better nutrition and reduces risk of diseases current plaguing our modern society. This book is a detailed guide to achieving your Paleolithic diet.

If you are interested in a simple guide to a Paleo disease free lifestyle for better health and better weight control, read this book. Strangely enough, it starts with what a caveman would eat. You will learn the underlying principles behind the lifestyle, the science of how it works, how to get started by stocking your kitchen and what to do when you are at a restaurant.

You do not need to follow a food chart and count calories. Learn all about Gluten intolerance, the disease of affluence and how to follow a few simple rules of what groups of foods to eat and what groups of foods to avoid. The groups are logical and easy to remember. The book lets you know how to ease into the plan for the first 30 days and how to continue after. If you are into recipes, there are plenty from which to choose.

So happy to have found this book since I have read others on the Paleo Diet that weren’t even close to the clarity and informative nature of this one! This book is so
enlightening on what the Paleo diet is and explains how beneficial it can be and why, to the user. I have not heard great things in the past about this diet but with the information included in this book I would definitely give it a try!

It explains how different diseases are started and can be helped by following this diet from cancer and diabetes to autoimmune disease including celiac and gluten sensitivities, explaining just how cereal based diets started the whole gluten-free revolution. They go on to explain how the Paleo diet can be a good strategy for overall good health also telling you why once more and exactly what you can and cant eat. It includes meal plans and great recipes as well. A very easy read and great book!

I'll admit I'm skeptical about this diet - though less so after reading _Paleo for Beginners_. I'm not yet convinced that grains (and legumes!) are bad for most. However, I'd still recommend the diet's other aspects: get enough sleep and exercise; manage your stress; and eat "cleaner" (no processed crap, buy organic non-factory-farmed meats, etc.).

There are a wide range of tasty-looking recipes, and I've bookmarked a surprising number. Several are quite intriguing - like the "Delectable Brownies," which sneak in sweet potato, avocado, and applesauce. I appreciate the recipes' informative blurbs at the top, including preparation tips, variations, and info about the ingredients.

Give 'er a read. Even if you ultimately decide not to omit the grains and such, the recipes are a find.
