    The author carefully explains the historical background to the Paleo diet (also known as the caveman diet), the philosophy guiding the food choices and allowed combinations, the many benefits as well as a complete 7-day meal plan.

    The book is well researched, and provided me with just the right level and volume of information for me to get started with the Paleo diet. So far, I have tried out two of the recipes (Fancy Chicken Salad, and Avocado and Bacon Omelet), which I can honestly say were a) easy to make and b) very tasty - just as promised on the cover.

    Would have loved to see a few more pictures of the lovely food in the book.

    The book is well edited and structured, it does not contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. The language is jargon free and easy to understand by anyone.

    In short, Paleo for Beginners is a well written, tasty and informative guide for those who want to know more and who may want to try out the Paleo diet for the first time.

    The Paleo Diet is a hot topic. As a healthcare practitioner and health fanatic for more than forty years, I find the information helpful and well researched. I especially like how the author speaks to specific conditions and age groups as well as other fad programs, offering readers a chance to make wise choices based on fact not emotions.
    My only criticism lies in the recipes. I would not use any of the sweeteners, most especially agave, recommended. Besides, the whole point to reducing carbs is eliminating the sweeteners that drive blood sugar. Once on this lifestyle eating well becomes so natural that sweeteners are not longer appealing and definitely not tempting.
    I have been eating this way for years. Having thrived following to Traumatic Brain Injuries I can totally atest tot he fact that his way of eating leads to better brain health which, of course. creates better overall well being.
    I recommend this book to people wanting to understand the Paleo Diet and why switching to it will only improve their health.

    This books makes eating healthy seem so simple. The recipies are filled with easy recipies to follow that don't even resemble a "diet." Just the kind of help I need. The cover draws you in, but Crawford has failed to include any pictures inside. I think that colorful pictures (as in most recipie books) would help this book rise above the mountains of other Paleo diet guides/cookbooks found even on Amazon.

    Aside from no pictures, the book is very infomative. It gives a history of the diet, compares it to other diets, giving pro and cons and takes you through a week's worth of meals, with recipies. You can't go wrong with this guide. I plan on giving the diet a try.

    I knew almost nothing about the Paleo Diet. This book gave me a pretty good insight into what is involved to follow this way of eating.
    With this book you will learn what you can and can't eat in the Paleo Diet. You will also have a food guide and you will get tips for sticking with the diet.
    I can recommend this book to help you get started.

    These days, there's a lot of buzz surrounding the Paleo Diet (also known as the Paleolithic diet, the Caveman diet and the Stone Age diet). This book offers a good overview of the diet, its origins and philosophies while filling you in on the essential building blocks of the diet (e.g., what you can and can't eat when following it). It also offers some comparisons between the Paleo diet and other diet regimens such as the Vegan diet, the Mediterranean diet and others. Once the overview is done, there is a meal plan complete with recipes ... and some hints on how to stick with the diet. Overall, this is a great place to start understanding and "test driving" the Paleo diet ...your questions will be answered and you will have recipes to get you started.

    Although Paleo is presently all the rage and there are books a plenty on the topic I have managed, up until now at least, to avoid learning too much about it. I typically wait for the hype to die down then look at what is still standing. After reading Gina's book I have no doubt that this will be one of those books.

    I am a particularly practical type of person and therefore don't care too much for uneducated opinion and/or people who claim that 'this is the way' just because they did it. What I like is factual, well researched information that will stand up to scrutiny. This is exactly what I got in 'Paleo for Beginners'. In fact I'm glad I chose this book to learn from, as not only did Gina present the information in a logical sequence but the information she provided was indeed factual and straight to the point. You see as well as being practical I also consider myself efficient. Therefore I loved the fact that Gina wrote this book in a no nonsense style, providing the reader with what they need to know about Paleo and no more.

    Specific parts of the book that stood out for me included… The whole of chapter 3 in particular the inclusion of the ‘Paleo for kids’ (father of two girls). The whole of chapter 4. I really appreciated the comparison between other diets or ways of eating as I have been, in the past at least, and Aitkins dieter. The ‘crunchy chicken’ and ‘kale chips’ recipes in chapter 5, which I've tried, and loved. And as I’m a work traveler the tips for Paleo and travel in chapter 6 were just what I needed to get my s*** together and stop eating convenience food at airports and hotels.
