Most paleo recipe books I've read have some rather obscure ingredients, but this book keeps it simple. The beginning of the book explains a little about paleo (and why everyone needs a little treat every now and then) as well as the important paleo ingredients to buy for your pantry (palm shortening was a surprise).
Last night, we tried the chocolate chip cookie recipe and it came out just like Famous Amos Cookies. Light, crunchy and chocolaty -- yum!
I recommend this highly as good resource to have, not just for those doing paleo, but for everyone!
When I found this Paleo cookbook that focused just on desserts I was thrilled but also a little wary. I absolutely love desserts (I mentioned that I lived in Belgium, yes?) but anything that tastes inauthentic, no matter the diet, turns me off.
I'm glad to say that, in my family's opinion, Paleo Desserts and Baked Goods Recipes is a smash hit. Not only does author Tyler Daniels provide a lot of interesting and important information about the ingredients used in the recipes, the results that we have had have been absolutely delicious. One of my favorites is the Primal Forest Cherry Walnut Brownies. They are a different take on brownies, light and fluffy and with a taste combination from the chocolate, cherry and walnuts that is sublime. We have already made them on a few occasions for family and guests.
Anyway, I just wanted to leave a few words here about how great the book is and how delicious all of the recipes. We've made at least a half dozen so far and have been happy with all of them. If you follow the Paleo diet or you are just looking for a cookbook with some healthy and extremely tasty dessert recipes, this is definitely going to be on your top 10 list. My wife and I (and our kids) highly recommend it.
