Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

In the late 1970s, direct sales companies such as Amway and Shaklee began to use the term "multilevel marketing" to refer to their system of selling distributorships on the one hand and products on the other. The phrase was meant to add respectability to their business practices because such setups were often associated with pyramid schemes in the minds of regulators and the public. Disreputable promoters, however, were quick to take advantage of this umbrella of legitimacy; so "network marketing" is now a newer term used to counteract negative connotations. Paley explains how network marketing works and suggests ways to evaluate such business opportunities. He is "celebrated for his financial triumphs in the home-based business industry" and conducts "mentoring" and training seminars. He touts his own success and offers a defense of network marketing, distancing the concept from the "very dirty business practice[s]" associated with pyramiding. Though he emphasizes the rosy possibilities throughout, Paley does acknowledge the pitfalls one might face if he or she decides to participate in one of these networks. David Rouse

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, May 30, 2011

This review is from: Russ Paley's Ultimate Guide to Network Marketing: Your Step-By-Step Guide to Wealth (Paperback)
I had gotten into network Marketing , and this was exactly what I needed to inspire me. I had only one problem, he never told you what products he started with or made his first money with. I went on the internet to find out. He did not feel it was important, but I sold services, not a product, so it was hard to relate at times, but over all, a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Learning from Russ Paley, February 17, 2006
This review is from: Russ Paley's Ultimate Guide to Network Marketing: Your Step-By-Step Guide to Wealth (Paperback)
In chapter 7, Russ discusses duplicating yourself and mentoring other. There is no "I" in Team.
Also, the phrase "K.I.S.S." - Keep It Super Simple comes to mind.
