Excellent start to the Three Lands Trilogy,
By
This review is from: Palindor (Paperback)
The "Three Lands Trilogy" reminds me somewhat of "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever" in that the main character is transported to an alternate world, but where Donaldson's fantasy goes on and on, Mr Evans gives us a more concise journey. The characters are tested and their values are shown. I have read a lot of fantasy series and highly recommend this one. A lot of fantasy book series are battles of good and evil and this is no exception but these characters have a human quality that reflects how people face trials and overcome them.

It was one of the best books I ever read. I'm more of Star Wars nerd so I don't really read books like normally. So this was a great experience for me.

... The second book is in print now, and the third is coming soon... Palindor was a great story that I wish I owned. It takes the ideas behind Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia and introduces new ideas, while expanding upon those by previous authors. Fantasy books are good for capturing peoples imaginations, and Palindor does just that. Congrats on a wonderful book, Mr. Evans. I enjoyed it. I'll definitely be buying this book...

I'm glad to see this book back in print. I first read it five or six years ago, and that was a copy I borrowed from a friend. I tried to find my own copy after my friend lost his, but it was out of print. Amazon.com finally located one for me a while ago, and it was as good as I remembered. An excellent fantasy, with some regular fantasy creatures and some new interesting, unique creatures. My only complaint is it was too short! Parts of it seem to foreshadow that other books would be written, and I, for one, think it needs to be the start of a series!

CLEVER AND ENTERTAINING! PALINDOR BY D.R. EVANS FOLLOWS IN A FINE FANTASY TRADITION, AND BREAKS A FEW RULES ALONG THE WAY! I LOVED THIS BOOK; IT WAS THE PERFECT READ AT A TIME WHEN I SERIOUSLY NEEDED AN ESCAPE FROM THE REALISM OF EVERYDAY LIFE. D.R. EVANS BRINGS HIS CHARACTERS VIVIDLY ALIVE; THEY ARE BOTH FANTASTIC FANTASY FIGURES AND FAMILIAR FRIENDLY FACES. THE SETTING WAS EXQUISITE, AND THE STORY LINE PROVES THAT ULTIMATELY, GOOD DOES TRIUMPH OVER EVIL! HIP, HIP HURRAH!

A wonderful story of courage and adventure. Truly a great read and worthy of a sequel.
Addenda: I read this story a number of years ago when it was first released. Evans creates an enchanting world with vivid characters and important lessons. It's great to see the final two volumes now in print. |
