This special edition set, limited to under 500 pieces total, features a re-painted "battle-damaged" version of the Hero Ash from Series 1, a very cool rust-colored "battle" version re-paint of the Deadite Footsoldier, and some amazingly repainted weapons, shields and other accessories. The packaging is also VERY different for this figure compared to the regular line and exclusives. As this was a "membership kit" that was offered to new members of the Collectors Club it is packaged in a membership tin, with Palisades logo, and also includes all the stuff that came with the kit, including the special edition re-paints of a Palisades Freakables figure and the chimp from Crittaz! Note however that it does not include a Palisades Club membership, since Palisades no longer exists! Based on director Sam Raimi's 1993 cult-classic film starring Bruce Campbell, this movie follows the adventures of Ash as he is transported back in time to 1400 A.D., where he must fight an army of Deadite soldiers, led by an evil version of himself, and retrieve the Necronomicon (The Book of the Dead) to return home. Despite the smaller scale of these figures, they are amazingly articulated and eye-poppingly detailed. Perfect for fans of the film and collectors of detailed fantasy/horror figures, this is one line that won't make you run home and cry to mamma! Each figure pack has TONS of accessories from the film and the figures are articulated to the MAX. Most of the figures have over 27 points of articulation EACH including double jointed knees, double jointed elbows and even ball-jointed heads!!! At the time they were made they raised the bar for articulation and detail and were some of the most amazing figures in the scale EVER created. Please note that all the Palisades Army of Darkness figures, though mainly those in Series 1, had some Quality Control issues with fragile joints. Use EXTRA caution when taking these out and posing them or moving any of the parts.

I actually got this in the mail by accident after Amazon screwed up my order. I'll put it this way, there are things that I like about it, and things that i don't like about it.

while there are alot of cons to this items they do have some neat stuff:
#1 I like the presentation of the item, the lunch pale is a nice touch
#2 the addition of two other figures along with the other 2 figures is a nice little value
#3 extra weapons
#4 a lifetime membership to Palisades toys including certificate and member card
#5 Ash Fig. looks like Bruce Campbell

now here are the things i didn't like:
#1 As soon as i took Ash out of his container his leg and arm snapped off
#2 though it includes extra weapons, the way that this thing is packaged and the material that the weapons are made of made them bent. swords were bent, pikes were bent, axes were bent, etc.
#3 these figures are tiny, Ash is about as big as my middle finger
#4 Stiffness! I don't know whose idea this was but obviously people want to make their action figures pretty instead of playable, I always feel like i have to be careful when i'm moving them to different positions for fear i might snap something off.
#5 the hands, OMG the hands! They can't hold jack!I dare you to try to take one of those swords and make it stick in ash's hands. go ahead and try it! you can't!

Overall, The figures kinda stink, and the makers must've known that so they threw in some extra stuff. however if you are an Evil Dead freak and plan on collecting every piece of merchandise with Evil dead on it then by all means spend your money. however if your just looking for something with a sword and cape like I was then there are much better things out there

I am an enormous fan of the Evil Dead trilogy and considering the price of this thing it's an excellent deal. The figures are small, but they're very well detailed. No, I didn't take them out and try to play with them. The word "COLLECTOR" is on this product for a reason. And in the Collector's world the acronym NRFB (Never Removed From Box) is law. I checked out the figures in their plastic packaging and they feel like they aren't going to handle getting played with or something but they're not supposed to be played with. It sits on a shelf and looks cool. And it does that well. The literature and certificates that come with this package seem to indicate it's an enrollment bonus pack and it comes with two additional (not Evil Dead related) figures. It all comes in a metal lunch box embossed with the Pallisades Collector's Club logo. And that sits in a cardboard box. All of these also bear the company slogan "Play With It!". Almost makes you wonder if they understand collecting.

Pros:
Definite "must-have" for die hard fans of the franchise
Detailed figures
Impressive presentation
Certificates are always nice in the collector's world
Bonus figures

Cons:
The Army Of Darkness figures feel fragile and cheap
I doubt the weapons (especially long ones like spears and pike axes) are much stronger

Over-All:
I say all Evil Dead Trilogy fans should buy it. I paid all of $9.99 for mine and for the price the less-than-ideal quality of the figures (you're not supposed to play with anyway) can be forgiven. The certificates are a nice touch and the lunchbox makes displaying pretty easy.

I recently ordered this product and though yes it is hard to get them to hold things and they are easily broken. I bought it to just collect which collect is in the name its meant not to come out of the box. So I havent even really touched it :P. But overall I gave it a four cause the evil dead series is great.
