I have been wearing these boots for more than 40 years, about one pair every two to three years, when I am not in uniform this is what I wear, during summer and dry winter days, for hiking, backpacking or just around town.
They are light, have soles with good grip, keep my feet cool on hot days, are easy to clean - I wash mine by hand although I have washed them in the machine without any adverse effects - easy to pack, and give me just the support I need without unnecessary bulk or weight.
My first three pairs still had the original burlap insoles, no support at all though easy to wash, the present insoles are a lot better.
If for some reason, I hope never, the manufacturer decides to discontinue these boots, I hope to be informed of it ahead of time so I can buy 10 to 20 pair, so as to be sure I never have to "set foot" in those over-engineered, over-priced, over-promoted hideous spaceship resembling synthetic monstrosities passing for hiking-boots these days.

I wear these shoes all year round, nearly daily.
For my use (mostly flat terrain, about 1 long walk of more than 2-3 hours per month) they will start looking worn after about 6 months, and will be unusable at approx. 1 year.
Up to now, the wearing pattern is always similar: they will start tearing on folds in the canvas.
Lastly, they seem to have a break in period of roughly a month.

Since I just got these today, I can only comment so far as to:
Fit: Contrary to other reviews, the sizing is spot on. I will say that, compared with most shoes, they are a bit narrow. For me that's just right.
Quality: Based only on visual inspection, they seem to be well-made. The seams are straight and tight, there's no glue seepage, etc.
The tread is very aggressive, as has been mentioned.
Comfort: So far so good. Very lightweight. The only potential problem I see is the relative lack of cushiony insole. Not to in any way further the whole Chucks comparison thing, but the insole is very comparable to that feel. Don't expect running-shoe type sponginess at all.
Considering the cost of shoes generally, I feel like $40 is hard to beat if they don't fall apart tomorrow.

These boots are NARROW. Dont buy if you have flat or wide feet. Im not sure if Palladium offers these boots in widths but the boots in general are narrow. Overall these boots are great.

I wear a size 10 and these do run small as other reviewers have noted
I purchased two pair, different colors and both fit the same. I highly recommend you go to the next 1/2 size up.
As far as comfort they are OK but nothing to write home about

I'll update this as I continue to wear them.

    Day 1: Unpacking

These boots were comfortable out of the box. The fit is exact and perfect in comparison to the Converse All-Star high tops. Do yourself a favor and get fitted for a pair of Chuck T's if you're unsure about Palladium fitment. They're exactly the same in both room and feel. Obviously the Palladium Pampa Hi's have a more aggressive tread; but that's beside the point. The higher tread and more pliable sole make these about 1.4x more comfortable than a pair of Converse Chuck Highs. These are, also, not much heavier than the Converse. I'll repeat this comparison further, I'm sure.

The wear-in isn't as bad as other hiking boots I've encountered. There's no sore ankle or ball-of-foot skin wear for me. The upper mate-stitching isn't obvious when walking / wearing for the first time. The upper canvas is, too, pliable just like the lower soles. The laces seem tough now but I wonder how much pulling / tugging will adversely affect their reliability. I'll continue to keep my focus on these; as I don't typically trust cotton bound laces on boots. A length of paracord might fit better and last longer.

I'm only 3 days deep into these boots but, so far, am impressed. The light-weight mixed with obvious flexibility and military-style looks are great so far. Next week I'll continue to test, outside an urban environment, with a short hike with mild grade. My previous all leather boots proved to be too heavy and non-flexible for a comfortable walk through the light grade.

    Great gear thus far..

    Day 7:

These boots have only become more comfortable!

Title says it all. My second pair. And my cat loves them too. Great for scratching on. For me, light and comfy.

The fit is good, although if you don't like snug fitting boots, beware that these run close in the forefoot (especially if you have a wider forefoot and narrower heel). The feel like a good pair of trail running shoes should feel.

My issue was that the color of Peru as displayed on the web page didn't accurately represent just how pink the rubber soles and rand actually are. A somewhat common paint color at paint stores is "Peruvian lily," which is a deepish pink color. I suspect that's where the "Peru" name here comes from. If you're thinking that's a sandy tan upper with a slightly sandy-tan sole/ran, think again. Order only if a bit of pinkishness will work for you.
