I purchased this to have a backup charger at work for my Palm Pre. I didn't want the additional expense of a second touchstone.
This product works very well. I have been using this cable for a few days plugged into a USB port without any issues. I have used it for all 3 options-- Media Sync, USB Drive, and Just Charge, all worked fine.
I have read a number of reviews for various cables that don't work with the Touchstone; I plugged this one in to the Touchstone and it worked fine. I believe part of the issue on those is that the mini USB cable end isn't long enough to fit in the Touchstone, but I did not have any problems connecting this specific cable.
If you are buying this to use with a Touchstone, keep in mind that you will need to purchase a USB outlet adapter, as well. (The touchstone won't work with the cable plugged into a USB port; it must be plugged into an outlet.)
Pros: good price, works well, works with the Touchstone, performs all required tasks
Cons: a bit short (about 40 inches/1 meter long); if using with a Touchstone you must also purchase the USB outlet adapter.

I bought this recently and did not expect much, as it was only $2.99 shipped to my door. For that much money, how can you go wrong? So, I have not used it to transfer data yet, as it it plugged into my PC at work just for charging. When plugged in, my Palm Pixi prompts me, just as the factory cable does, to transfer or charge. I have used this cable about 10x to charge now, and it works great! Do not hesitate to purchase this if you need another cable, or two!

A good inexpensive cable that works like the original. I purchased this cable because I wanted one that would work with the touch stone I just purchased. After reading several reviews and looking at competing cables I deciding on this one. While several inches shorter (40") than the original it works well and with the touch stone. I used this cable mainly for use in the car.

It's a good thing the cord didn't cost much. It doesn't fit into the touchstone charger and seems to cause problems when plugged into my computer. I was really hoping it would work better - that's why I threw in for two of them. Now they are collecting dust.

I got it for my touchstone, figure it works since it's USB 2.0 - but DOES NOT work. You should stick to OEM USB cable which support 1AMP, not 0.5AMP - you are not gonna able to charge your phone on the touchstone. You'll get annoying, constant charging sign on and off and end up not charging.

I ordered this cable because I can never seem to find the right type of USB cable when I want to plug my phone into my computer (I have another dedicated cable to charge the phone as well as the Palm power adapter / "puck").
The computer will not recognize the phone as a legal USB device when using this cable. It appears to work fine if all you want to do is charge the phone from a USB source, but it's worthless for communicating with the phone (I ordered several due to the low price, and they all work the same way on different computers running Windows XP and Windows 7)

So, I cannot recommend this cable, and it DOES NOT "outperform the original".

These cables do not work with the Touchstone as the micro USB end is too large to fit into the opening on the touchstone. Beware.

The first month this cable worked just as well as the palm brand cable, but then it suddenly because very slow to charge no matter what I plugged the usb into. Not worth the shipping, but buy the real palm charger.

It gets the job done and does exactly what i want it to do. I just use it for home use and it charges my phone.

The phone end of the charging cable is the weak point of the Palm Pre and is NOT the standard USB end. The charger end IS standard USB and plugs into any USB charger or computer jack. The one that came with the phone wasn't making good contact. This one works perfect and the price was right.
