Out of the box this charger/Palm Sync device worked perfectly! But it aged rapidly, became senile, and was a goner in under 7 months. Rereading other's reviews I conclude the positive reviews were written soon after folks received their chargers. I purchased this as a brand-less charger from Amazon merchant Eforcity in FEB'10. [Now this brand-less charger is being offered by Amazon merchants Wireless Emporium and SF Planet, both of which identify it as being a product of "Cellphone Accents".] [Amazon.com LLC, itself, now offers the identical device with an "Amzer" label stuck on the front of the charger's base. In fact, now, there is a score of offers for this good-looking device through Amazon, and the bad reviews, scattered throughout the offerings, have begun to accumulate.] After a month, this charger/Palm Sync device was no longer recognized or even acknowledged when plugged into my PC's USB port. Plugging/unplugging, powering down/powering up, etc. did not improve the situation. That was the end of using this product to synchronize my Palm Centro with my PC. About that same time it became more difficult to use it as just a charger because I found that I had to be most particular about how carefully I inserted my Centro into this device for a recharge -- if not done just right the Centro's charge light would not come on. I had to very carefully tilt the Centro away from the backrest until contact was made and the charging light came on. In late August, less than 7 full months after ordering it this device, it failed as even a cheap charger. I inserted my Centro and immediately the charger's green charging light began flashing alternately RED/GREEN, RED/GREEN, RED/GREEN . . . . I removed my Centro but the flashing continued. I unplugged the charger (the flashing stopped) and felt it for warmth to see if it was overheating somehow -- it was cool to the touch. I plugged it back in and the RED/GREEN flashing resumed. I unplugged it, waited two days, and plugged it in again -- RED/GREEN flashing LED resumed. KAPUT! This is just schlock merchandise offered by many Amazon merchants from less than $14 to over $65. It is the same schlock charger regardless of vendor.

The unit I got has the SYNC button which works with my Tungsten T5 to sync to my Sony laptop. It also does charging the power nicely. The only bad thing is my T5 will not show a lightening sign on battery on the screen to tell me it is charging. The original palm cable will show the sign on T5. With this price I am very pleased with what I got since a few people said they got a cable with no sync button. Best buy !!
