Clear, Concise Picture Book on PDAs,
This review is from: Palm & Handspring PDAs for Visual Learners (Paperback)
Take the "for Visual Learners" part of the title seriously. This book seems to be 90% illustrations. Very clean and clear, not a lot of detail. This book and the PDA itself would be enough to learn your way around the machine. It might even make a good way to introduce some folks to computers. Know someone who got one of these PDAs for Christmas and isn't sure what to do with it? Give them this book. Keep it handy for a step by step, illustration by illustration walk-through of the basic functions of the PDA.

Good for Beginners,

A very good resource for the "newbie" to PDAs. A lot of visuals to help learn the basics. Quality pictures/illustrations make each part very clear. A little heavy on visuals for my liking but still a quality resource. Organization and content is great! A great gift to go with a new PDA for someone!

This review is from: Palm & Handspring PDAs for Visual Learners (Paperback)
As the title states, this book is designed for visual learners. The style and the layout of the book includes clear and concise screen shots of various PDA devices. By using minimal text, readers should be able to easily follow the examples of the various PDA tasks. This book would be particularly helpful for self-directed learners and people like me who do not have a lot of time to read a huge book or manual in order to learn how to use the basic features of a PDA. The book would also be very useful in workshop or other training situations, partucularly for novice PDA users.

Great Book for Non-techie,
By James C. Clark, Jr (Wichita, KS) - See all my reviews

Are you looking for a learning resource for handheld computers, but are intimidated by technical jargon and written instructions? Unlike most other technical publications, this book offers a basic understanding of the Palm/Handspring PDA without resorting to confusing technical instructions. Each page has one or more graphical image(s) of the handheld screen followed by a minimum of instruction. The author allows you to work through the book at your own pace, one step at a time, in the privacy of your home. This book is aimed very directly at the newby, non-technical user. There are other handheld computing books available that would better meet the needs of the experienced handheld user.

Once again, I have nothing but positve things to say about the another of the visibooks. This book came in handy since I was blessed with a palm piolet for Christmas by my lovely wife, Kismet. The book is thorough and goes through all the differing aspects of using the Palm. Again, the accompanying diagrams/photos of the palm made it so much easier to navigate and understand the proper method of using it. Once again, I take my hat of to the Visibooks staff, for once again, coming up with a book for those of us who have to "see" what the text is describing.

If you want a book to teach you how to use your Palm or Handspring, you have found it! Recently my school district purchased thirteen handspring neos for our teachers. It was my responsiblity to train these teachers. Visibooks Palm and Handspring PDAs for Visual Learns was a lifesaver. The book has great pictures and takes the user step by step through learning process. Needless to say, I quickly learned all the featurs of the PDA's and was able to teach others using this book. The troubleshooting section is also very helpful when you are unable to hot sync. If you own a Palm or Handspring, I would recommend that you purchase this book to learn to all the features of your PDA.
