Not a bad experience,

This review is from: PalmOne 96500PLMIN Treo 650/700 Ultra-Light Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
After doing a lot of research on the right BT headset for the Treo 700p, I decided on this one. This is basically the rebranded Plantronics headset that the Palm store sells without the case, et al. The Plantronics branded version of this set got good reviews from what I read on CNet and all. Anyway, I got the unit despite the negative review on this site. I can see how there may be an issue with the charger, but mine seems to work fine so far. When the BT headset is dropped in the charger cartridge, there is a small plug where the contacts must meet. It might not charge so well if the charger is laying on it's side, but I keep mine upright.
Regarding the performance and use, it seems pretty clear at reasonable BT ranges for a Treo (up to @ 8-10 ft) and the sound is good. I've had conversations in pretty noisy areas w/o complaints from those on the other end of the line. Battery seems to last well. Wearing it is nice since it is so light. It comes with an loop for the ear and 3 different sizes of ear adapters. It's so light that you don't really need the ear loop and I don't use it under normally. I have used it when I put the headset under a motorcycle helmet -- worked ok there too. I don't have buyers remorse... at least, not yet!

Based on the Palm reputation and because I wanted a bluetooth headset for my Treo 650, I decided to take a chance inspite of the bad experiences four other reviewers reported. I've had none of the problems they described. Mine clicks into the charger easily and charges fully. I asked the first person to whom I called how it sounded, and the answer was "loud and clear". I left a message on my work voice mail so I could make my own evaluation. It sounded just as good as a wired connection.

I got a defective one!,

This review is from: PalmOne 96500PLMIN Treo 650/700 Ultra-Light Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased mine from the Palm online store. The actual headset would not snap into the charger so that it would charge effectively. It was more like gravity allowed it to charge. I spent a number of hours trying to get it to work. I called technical support a few times, to get offshort support. After numerous hours and steps, I was told that I had a defective device, and I will be sending it back. Reviewing an online message board, I found out that others had similar problems and that some of the units were defective, and was encouraged to get the new plantronics 655 or the samsung wep 200. I'm unhappy with the tech support I received from Palm. After persistently dealing with them, they admitted that the device I had was defective. I expected much more from a company that I have been purchasing from for quite a long time.

Best Headset I have ever owned!,
This review is from: PalmOne 96500PLMIN Treo 650/700 Ultra-Light Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Despite some of the other reviews on this headset, I decided I'd go with my insticts. I have not had any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews regarding the charging, and the sound quality is great. I owned a Sony Ericcson, didn't like it, sold it, bought a Motorola H700 (big mistake), didn't like it, sold it. I had seen the Palm Ultra Light Weight Bluetooth headset originally made by Plantronics. When I saw that Palm had "bought the rights" to the design and made it compatible with my Treo's charger, I had to have one. I really like the in-ear design because it doesn't interfere with sunglasses. I would without questions recomend this headset to anyone!

Not Impressed,

I received this unit a few days ago and I have to say that I'm not impressed!
Let's Start with the PRO's: 1. The sound quality is very good, as long as you are within range... which leads the one of the CON's. 2. Light weight. I don't think you can get a bluetooth headset lighter than this one. 3. Charging via a AAA battery. It's great if yuo are on the go and need a boost in power. CON's: 1. Range is not that great. I have to have the phone wtihin 3 feet of my headset to get a clear connection. 2. The AAA and wall charging connectors are poorly designed. It's very difficult to take the connectors off. 3. Sometimes the caller on the other end can't hear me well. The most common complaint is the headset makes me sound "echoy" or like I'm under water. 4. Connectivity is not consistant. I usually have no problem making calls but when receiving a call the headset will connect then disconnect. Overall it's not a great headset. I am disappointed that a well known company like Palm can't make a headset to work their Treo seamlessly.

Will not recommend this product at all. Battery doesnt last, is bulky and just not the quality i expected. The case is useful but that is about it.

I love the earpeice. However, the charger is extremely touchy. When you plug the ear bud into the charger, a red charging light should appear. It takes more than 3 times to get the lite to come on. I don't think its making a good connection. It will charge-eventually, but only after having played around with it to get it to connect. HUGE URRGGHHH.

Great Headset; Terrible Charger,
By
This review is from: PalmOne 96500PLMIN Treo 650/700 Ultra-Light Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I really like this headset because it is very comfortable and you can hear well in very loud places like airports and in the car. It has very effective noise cancelling technology. Others tell me that they can hear me well when I talk from noisy places. That being said, the 120 volt charging unit for the wall socket charge for this unit is just terribe. I've owned two units and I'm about to buy the third because I like the fit so much; but, on both of my previous headsets the unit stopped charging effetively after about 6 months of use. The base where the plug from the wall connects just stopped working properly. Others have reported a similar problem here and elsewhere. One of the other good features about this unit is that it has an interchangeable charging unit that allows you to charge the unit via a wall socket or with a AAA battery. This has saved me on several occassions when I didn't have a wall socket handy and it has allowed me to continue to use my "broken" headsets after the main charging unit no longer worked.

Not bad,

This is my first headset, I've had it about a month and I don't have too many complaints about it. I read all the comments and reviews before purchasing this item so I was aware of the situations people were having with the headset so I've kept all of it in mind. I haven't experienced any problems with the charging or the charging adaptor, I've used my battery charger twice and I haven't had any problems with it, I don't have any problems with the headset losing connection, no one's complained about me sounding like I'm on speaker phone, and I don't have any trouble with the headset staying in my ear. However, as other reviewers have noted, I can't travel too far from my phone without getting a severe amount of static (I have to stay within maybe 3 or 4 feet of my phone), the noise cancelling feature is close to non-existent, and although I haven't had any problems with my charger, I would prefer it to be a direct connection rather than an adaptor (personally, this is just an extra piece for me to keep up with). I can't comment on the voice dialing feature because I haven't attempted to use it but all in all this headset serves it's purpose. I would purchase again and if you're looking for something to hold you over, this definitely does that.
