This review is from: PalmOne V Hard Case Special Edition (Metallic Blue) (Office Product)
Given all of the other reviews of this product in its basic oolor, I'll just focus my comments on the problems that a few users have found (largely, I believe, because they have failed to be careful with placing the machine in the case).1) The case offers major protection, particularly for the glass screen. The safety afforded your investment more than makes up for the fact that the styling is less elegant than leather. 2) The springs will keep the case closed if you fully slide the Vx up the center rail and then press the top as you would the top of a stylus. This gets the Vx far enough into the case to get a perfect closing every time. Repeat as needed. The case is not intended to snap fully closed -- only to protect the machine, which it will do. 3) It's easy to install the machine on the left hand side of the case by reorienting the machine. This will make it fine for use by lefthanders. 4) I've found using this case with the HotSync cradle to be easy. Simply fold both the front and the back of the case to positions perpendicular to the Vx. Position the HotSync cradle either up on something or near the edge of your table so that the back flap of the cover has room to extend down. Now the machine will fit easily on the HotSync cradle. Furthermore, the Vx will be firmly on the cradle and is in no risk of falling. 5) It's unnecessary to HotSync every day to recharge the battery. If all you're doing is backup your data, a far better method is to simply use the infrared port on your Palm and your computer to effortlessly HotSync. This can be done by activating your infrared port on your computer and changing the setting on your Palm from Direct Serial to IR to a PC/Handheld. The most important purpose of a case is, for me, to protect the machine. That it does, and at a reasonable price. However, take a look at its appearance which may not suit the style-conscious who can accept the greater risk of other cases.

This review is from: PalmOne V Hard Case Special Edition (Metallic Blue) (Office Product)
Originally for several months, I used the basic cover that came with the Palm--the simple leather cover that just flapped over the front screen. I was comtemplating purchasing a slim leather case, until my backlight broke. Considering, I generally keep it in my bag with all my books and things I decided to go with the hard case.+ Close to the size of the Palm. - Does not snap shut. + Rich royal blue

Slim and effective,

When I bought my Palm a couple of weeks back, I figured I couldn't just live with the cheap cover that came with it. I wanted something that would protect my cherished investment. When I saw that Palm offered the blue hard case, I had to get it.The blue case is stylish, durable, and slim. The item is made from a hard plastic with two blue anodized metal plates placed on the front and back. A plastic pin holds the Palm in place. You have to be careful, though. If you monkey around with it too much, it might break. If you're careful, it will last for a long time, just don't be too rough slipping it on and off. If I was going to stop here, I would've given this item 4 stars. Here's why I'm giving this item 5 stars. I've dropped my Palm accidentally twice. Both times the Palm landed flush against a hard surface (A wood floor and concrete). Both times, my Palm was unscathed and worked perfectly thanks to the hard case. It's already paid for itself. I only feel bad now because I spend $40 on it, instead of waiting for Amazon to offer it for less than $30. It's well worth the investment.
