Palmer makes the best waffle irons in the business and this comes with a 10 year warranty. You buy a Palmer iron once (yes they cost a little more) but you will have it your lifetime. I own all three sizes of Palmer Belgian waffle cookie makers- 1010 (thin), 1020 (medium), and the 1030 (thick). All were purchased over 25 years ago when I was a new bride and they still work perfectly.

This review is for the Palmer 1020 which makes Galette cookies of medium thickness- these cookies are approximately 1/4" thick. If you want your New Year's/Belgian waffle/Galette cookies to still be soft in the middle with a firmer edge this is the size iron you are looking to buy. My husband grew up eating the thicker Galette cookies but today prefers this 1020 medium thickness cookie. It's a matter of personal preference and childhood memory which size Palmer iron you need to buy. Don't forget to keep these sealed in airtight containers and they will keep for months. If they do dry out (ours never last long enough to dry out) don't forget they can be dunked in coffee to soften as this is the traditional way they were originally eaten.

this iron makes the cookies way to thick. crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. not like the belgian cookies we made as kids. i suggest buying the thin iron. the cookies just don't taste good that thick.

A little different than my 25 year old one that burned out RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS! It took some getting used to - I had forgotten it takes a little bit to get them 'primed'! But once I got going, it was marvelous!

My mom has had this same iron for years now. Takes awhile to break in, but we eventually had delicious cookies!

I purchased the 1120 medium iron. i wished i would of purchased the 1130, i like thicker cookies like my grandmothers old stove-top iron made. after useing iron it's to late to return. it's hard to purchase item looking at pictures. iron works well, just to thin for me!

Had one for 45 yrs. and it finally gave out, so was very happy to find them here on Amazon.com. It works just like my old one, but it doesn't have a light to let you know when it is done pre-heating, and when it is ready for the next batch when baking a lot of dough!
