Standard soundtrack, not much actual Klaus Doldinger soundtrack music,
By Phasedin (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Palmetto (1998 Film) (Audio CD)
Like most movie soundtracks these days, this is pretty much a mishmash of vocal songs from multiple artists, few of which I have ever heard of except for one song each by David Byrne and J.J. Cale. I bought this because I was under the impression that there was a bunch of instrumental "real" soundtrack music from Klaus Doldinger (the great German saxophonist, keyboard player, and composer and best known as the only constant member of his decades-old jazz-rock band, Passport).
I figured there would be various pop songs on the soundtrack, which is typical, but I expected there to be more of the soundtrack that Doldinger created for the movie. As it stands, Doldinger's music (2 tracks only) adds up to a total of only 6 1/2 minutes of music. So be warned, this is not the place to go for a good sampling of Doldinger's soundtrack music. It's more for completists who must have everything that Doldinger has recorded. There's not even a listing of which musicians accompany Doldinger on his 2 tracks. |
