This rugged heavy duty Palmgren vise is designed for applications where low overall height is necessary. Including swivel base this vise is only 3-1/2" in height. It is used on drill presses, milling machines, grinders and shapers. This vise is also completely rotatable with swivel base graduated a full 360º. Two screws and swivel locking plate securely lock the vise at any position as required. The vise can be removed and used without the swivel base. For locating and mounting on machine table the base has 7/16" keyway and two bolt slots. Lead screws have precision cut Acme thread and castings are high strength gray iron, accurately machined. Both the body and follower are equipped with ground steel jaw plates.

I have this vise mounted on a Grizzly G0619 mill/drill or SX3 machine with 6x21" table. Size is just about right, I wouldn't want anything any larger or taller. Even with the 'low-profile' of this vise it certainly gobbles up plenty of vertical space. Vise seems well made and looks good. Jaw opening is 4" and travel is very smooth. Jaw height is pretty low so only the short parallels don't stick over the top. The rotation is very smooth and degree graduations are easy to read. There is a 7/16" keyway on the bottom of the vise about 3/4" inch long near each bolt 'ear'. The keyway allows repetative alignment/set-up when you remove and reinstall the vise on the milling table without having to re-square everything. I had to make a pair of T-nuts that would adapt the 7/16" keyway on the vise to the 0.48" slots on my milling table. I chose super-saver shipping and the vise showed up just two days later.

Bought this vise for the following reasons; Low profile in height, small footprint in relation to the size of opening (4 in). accuracy of vise is good. Bought for use on a Grizzly mill that is smaller than a normal vertical mill. This vise allows me maximize the cross feed travel and distance between the spindle and table.
