5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chopper
This is a great chopper, I use it to cut big chunks of vegetables for vegi soup, Tiny peices of celery, egg, and pickles for Tuna salad, minced onions and garlic for frying. I've had it for about three years now and it still chops like a champ ! I don't think it's that hard to clean, mostly I just take it apart and rinse it, but if it gets sticky it is dishwasher safe. 3.0 out of 5 stars Chops soft foods
Just bought this chopper at my last pampered chef party. I heard wonderful things about it from people who use it. Well, it works fine for soft things like eggs, veggies etc. However, my main reason for buying it was to chop things a bit harder like nuts. Nuts fly around the kitchen when I cut them with a knife on a cutting board. But it's nice to throw some freshly cut...

3.0 out of 5 stars Chops soft foods, January 17, 2011

Just bought this chopper at my last pampered chef party. I heard wonderful things about it from people who use it. Well, it works fine for soft things like eggs, veggies etc. However, my main reason for buying it was to chop things a bit harder like nuts. Nuts fly around the kitchen when I cut them with a knife on a cutting board. But it's nice to throw some freshly cut nuts into a recipe...hence my reason for getting the chopper. But, now the blade is all dented up from the nuts. The blade looks to be soft metal unable to withstand chopping nuts like walnuts, almonds or pecans. I'll probably send it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slap chop or pampered chef food chopper, September 7, 2009
By
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper
I was going to order the Slap Chop (advertised on TV), but wasn't impressed with the reviews. So based on Pampered Chef's quality (products and company), I opted to spend a little more and buy their product. I've been VERY pleased. Its a solid product that works as advertised. Cleaned up in my dishwasher without melting (no deforming of the plastic). Very sharp blades easily handled all veggies I threw at it. Came apart with little effort for 'complete' cleaning and easily reassembled. Its a good, solid product.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, January 19, 2010
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper
So easy to clean. And when you buy from the Pampered Chef, it is $29.50, not thirty something dollars. It also come with a 5 year warranty when purchased through the company. It is somewhat of a rip off to buy it from here. FYI

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Chopper, May 18, 2008
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper
I love my Pampered Chef Food Chopper. I use it for chopping onions, carrots, green peppers, tomatoes for salsa, mushrooms chopped fine and even nuts. I used the Pampered Chef Garlic Press for garlic which is another amazing PC tool. The Ultimate Mandoline will slice your tomatoes, onions, zuchini and even mushrooms. I love all my PC tools and gadgets. The food chopper makes chopping fast and easy to prepare many different recipes. It is a breeze to clean. Just take it easily apart and rinse under water then snaps back together. My kitchen would not be complete without my PC Food Chopper not to mention the other items from PC that I mentioned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Chopper, December 11, 2007

This is a great chopper for onions. It doesn't chop garlic fine enough for many recipes. The only problem I've had is with some of the outer onion layers; they're too tough for the blade. It is a honey to clean, two seconds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pampered Chef Food Chopper, March 22, 2007

I use mine alot for chopping onions. If you chop anything green (cilantro, spinach, etc.), you will want to rinse the rubber base as it WILL stain. I have found it to be a very invaluable tool in my kitchen and do not regret buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite perfect!, June 7, 2011
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper
I've been using this chopper for years now, and I have to say that although I do not need it for EVERY meal, I am so glad I have it for those times when I need to chop or mince a lot of things. One thing I always use it for that keeps popping up in my head is for the pecans that go in the topping for coffee cake. It really saves a lot of time and effort when compared to the traditional knife method.
Another thing I love about it is how easy it is to clean. =) You simply take off the bottom pieces, slosh around in soapy water, and as long as you weren't chopping anything really gummy ( I never do) it comes out squeaky clean. The Sides open up so if you see some gunk you can wipe it off. It's just really well designed. Now I'm rambling, and I never really write reviews, but I thought I should for this because it really is just that great. =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Converted my anti-gadget husband with this chopper, November 25, 2010

My husband was a long-time proponent of only using the chef's knife for all chopping, mincing, dicing, etc. duties. He is the primary cook in my house and I just knew this chopper would do the trick for him. I purchased my first one nearly a decade ago. After a few times using it for garlic, onions, and other small tasks, he decided this was completely worth the money and the time saved.

For those who complain that you can only do small batches. Try quartering things like onions first. Yes, you have to do each quarter separately, but I would still rather take 30 seconds with the chopper on the small batches (a few seconds each) than the pain and safety of dicing items with the knife (unlike my husband, I was never good with the knife, so this tool was my way to avoid using one!).

This tool is easy to clean, since it completely tears apart, and it is dishwasher safe. I know many reviewers only ever rinse theirs but we wash ours in the dishwasher after every single use. I think this extensive use and washing may shorten the lifespan, as my husband and I both have managed to crack the plastic casing around the blade. I dropped one on the tile floor from counter height; never a good thing for most kitchen tools. Anyway, after reviewing other companies' designs of similar items, I have decided to replace this with the same tool from Pampered Chef.

If I have any complaint at all (not really a complaint but a wish), I wish Pampered Chef would find a way to make a similar tool for more fragile jobs, such as herbs. This tool works fine for some herbs, such as thyme and rosemary, but less so for leafy herbs like parsley and cilantro.

I concur with the reviewer who warned against this product if you have arthritis or severe carpal tunnel, as the slapping motion is manual not motorized. Also, the reviewer who noted this can be loud is also correct. When chopping on a hard surface, the noise can be significant (at times my husband goes out of his way to make it more so by hitting the top harder). If you use the included silicon/rubber base, the noise is more bearable. Silicon cutting boards also help reduce the noise if you do not hit too hard. The tool does not really require you to hit that hard to work; it just needs enough force to have the blades complete a chop. Also, for those reviewers indicating this did not work for them, my guess is they were not following the directions correctly. This device works by rotating the blades slightly as it raises to evenly chop the food. However, the user has to allow the blades enough release to make these rotations. If the blades don't rotate, you end up chopping all in one spot.

I love the Pampered Chef Food Chopper and strongly recommend this item to anyone who cooks with fresh vegetables, garlic, hardy herbs, and nuts. I do suggest buying directly from Pampered Chef (their website has online shopping), but this price is not unreasonable as a convenience (so you do not have to setup yet another account somewhere) since Pampered Chef increased the price of this tool to $31.

4.0 out of 5 stars works REALLY well, but is too small, February 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper
works REALLY well, but is too small

was suggested by a friend that you can use it for larger amounts of food by removing the rubber base and chopping away on a cutting board, moving from one pile of whatever to another. this works, so the only problem is cleaning more than just the chopper.
