5.0 out of 5 stars Take down your wall can opener.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked OK for a while
The title of my review pretty much says it for my experience with this item. It was a gift and I was happy to have a can opener that leaves smooth edges. It does have a tendency to "skip" and lately it sometimes will not open a can at all. As with many Pampered Chef items, it is over priced. I am in the process of ordering a different can opener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take down your wall can opener., June 19, 2008

When I first bought the Pampered Chef can opener, it took me a few days to learn how to use it. Never having attended a Pampered Chef party, I missed those demonstrations for mechanically challenged people such as I am.

Then I finally caught on! This can opener turns the top of the can into a lid that can be used to cover food for storage in the can. Years ago, cans were not considered suitable for storage, but now many cans have a coating that makes food storage in them safe.

Not long after I started using the Pampered Chef can opener, the wall unit came down. The top of it could go into the dishwasher, but it was difficult to remove and replace the part. Using a can opener over and over without cleaning it becomes nasty.

Here is a can opener that can be washed each time it is used. Also I often cut my hands on cans with the old-style openers. I've never cut my hand using the Pampered Chef.

Tossing the electric can opener for a sanitary, easy-to-use device is one way to live a little greener.

The Pampered Chef can opener is very easy to use, and it can be cleaned thoroughly.

I highly recommend the Pampered Chef can opener.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy it!, May 13, 2008

If you have a can opener toss it, this one is the best-leaves a resealable-loose lid that saves the product and no sharp edge, hard to figure out how to use at first but so smooth to use you think it's not doing anything. There is a small prying clamp on side of opener pulls the top off and you can re-seat the top on to save the unused portion. I love it for the big cans of spagetti sauce, cooking for two I pop the lid on and it saves in the fridge for another meal

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, March 16, 2010

I was looking forward to using this can opener, however
it turned out to not work as advertised. Even though
I read the directions carefully, and I am sure that I
am using it correctly, I still have to run the can
opener around the can lid twice, in order to have
a chance of getting the lid off. (Contrary to the
directions.) Sometimes, we end up with one side of
the lid free, but he other side is still held tightly.
I imagine that manufacturing tolerances for this type
of can opener have to be fairly tight. Maybe, I got
one that is not quite right.
Pros: Easier to turn than other can openers of this type.
Cons: I am never know how many times I will have to go
around the top, before the lid will come off.

DON'T BUY THIS CANOPENER!! It works great for about a year - until the warranty is up - and then it won't hardly open a can. It isn't just my opener that this happened to - I have talked to others that have had the same experience. I even wrote to Pampered Chef - their response - "so sorry, warranty period is up". Spend your money elsewhere!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooooooth!, January 28, 2010
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Smooth-Edge Can Opener #2758
This is my favorite Pampered Chef item and every time I use it I'm glad for the purchase. There's a small learning curve, only because it looks like the can opener you've used before, but latches on a little differently. By the third use, you should have the hang of it though. :)

It works by cutting through the glue holding the lid on rather than cutting into the metal and leaving dangerous edges. It's cleaner too, because the lid doesn't fall into the can and float while you fish it out. Finally, the lid fits back on nicely so that you can leave leftover amounts in the can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised, September 26, 2010

Got it as a gift and I think it works better than the Oxo smooth edge can opener that I own as well. The Oxo did the job as well but I like the way the Pampered Chef feels.

4.0 out of 5 stars pampered cheff can opener, April 2, 2010
This review is from: The Pampered Chef Smooth-Edge Can Opener #2758
I love this product. You have to experience it to realize just how neat it is. It takes some getting used to because it is not like other can openers that you commonly find. After it cuts, you dont even realize that the top was cut until you pull it off with ease; really neat! It doesnt seem to get dull either.

This is the best kitchen gadget I've purchased in a long time. I absolutely love it - it's so fast and the edges are smooth yet won't cut you. I'd have to say, this is a must have.
