Nightmare,
By Kristen1984 (Dunmore, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 4 Diapers Jumbo Pack 27 Count (pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I'd been a loyal Pampers consumer since my daughter was in size newborn Swaddlers and the prospect of their Dry Max technology enticed me when it was introduced. My daughter was at the age where overnight diapers had become a necessity and I loved the notion that the Baby Dry line had been improved upon.
I learned, or rather she learned, very quickly that Dry Max was unfortunately not an improvement. She was wearing a size 3 at the time and began to wake up every morning soaked from mid-chest to knees. I assumed that she needed a size 4 for overnight and while the leaks didn't occur as regularly, there were still 2-4 mornings a week when she'd wake up soaked to the bone. I had purchased a small package and decided that once I had used the last one I was going to switch brands; I should have done so sooner. The first thing that I noticed one morning was that the left seam of her Extra Protection diaper had come undone. There were small gel beads all over her bedding and her, and when I removed her pajama bottoms and diaper I was in shock. Her stomach, bottom and thighs were covered in red welts with some areas more inflamed than others and others that had the appearance of a typical but severe diaper rash. I had never seen anything like it; she screamed when I wiped, screamed when she sat, screamed when she moved. Motrin had no effect so I made an appointment with her pediatrician for that afternoon and he too was shocked. As it turned out it wasn't welts nor was it a rash - she had suffered caustic burns from the Dry Max beads. I was livid and called Pampers immediately. They in turn asked for a release of her medical records for that appointment and I gave her pediatrician the okay to do so. I received a letter and 52 coupons for free diapers, their obvious attempt to bring me back as a consumer. I haven't purchased a single Pampers product since. Please use this with caution. My daughter isn't the only one who this happened to and that in and of itself is a very unsettling fact.

DO NOT BUY,
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Nighttime Diapers, Super Pack, Size 5, 72 Count (Health and Beauty)
I am a huge believer in the helpfulness of reviews, and use them prior to making purchase decisions. I read the reviews for this product, and was somewhat torn because of the diametrically opposing ratings. I decided to post a review for those of you that are similarly confused.
The bursting crystal thing is real, and not the result of a diaper left on too long or an unusually full bladder. My 19 month old son sleeps through the night, from about 8 pm - 7 am. We were using another brand for overnight, but decided to try Pampers Extra Protection because I did not like the way the smell of urine seemed to seep into his PJs, despite not leaking. That issue is nothing compared to the mess that greeted me when we tried the Pampers. The first morning, I was horrified by the way the Pamper was sagging. When I opened it up to change him, there were little crystals all over his groin and buttocks. Not a pleasant sight. I tried them two more times, coating him with ointment to protect his skin from the crystals. It happened again both nights. I do not work for a competitor, and this is not an attempt to launch a national campaign against any particular brand. However, as a parent, I feel that this type of failure is unacceptable, and should be shared. I am going to try to upload a picture as well.

Pampers delivers, again!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 3 Diapers Big Pack 80 Count (Health and Beauty)
In the days before ordering these new diapers, my baby's "Dry Max" Pampers were being pushed to the limit during the night, sometimes resulting in an accident. After using the new Extra Protection Pampers I am happy to report that, after 12 hours, this Pamper held its own, no leaks, no accidents, while it looks it can go for a few hours more! When you open these Pampers you can see that they have added a huge piece of absorbent material on it that is not bulky, resulting in a Pamper that is still thin. It looks like one of the other normal Pampers, but with a huge absorbent capacity. I'm a believer. Hope this helps!
