Nightmare,
By Kristen1984 (Dunmore, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 4 Diapers Jumbo Pack 27 Count (pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I'd been a loyal Pampers consumer since my daughter was in size newborn Swaddlers and the prospect of their Dry Max technology enticed me when it was introduced. My daughter was at the age where overnight diapers had become a necessity and I loved the notion that the Baby Dry line had been improved upon.
I learned, or rather she learned, very quickly that Dry Max was unfortunately not an improvement. She was wearing a size 3 at the time and began to wake up every morning soaked from mid-chest to knees. I assumed that she needed a size 4 for overnight and while the leaks didn't occur as regularly, there were still 2-4 mornings a week when she'd wake up soaked to the bone. I had purchased a small package and decided that once I had used the last one I was going to switch brands; I should have done so sooner. The first thing that I noticed one morning was that the left seam of her Extra Protection diaper had come undone. There were small gel beads all over her bedding and her, and when I removed her pajama bottoms and diaper I was in shock. Her stomach, bottom and thighs were covered in red welts with some areas more inflamed than others and others that had the appearance of a typical but severe diaper rash. I had never seen anything like it; she screamed when I wiped, screamed when she sat, screamed when she moved. Motrin had no effect so I made an appointment with her pediatrician for that afternoon and he too was shocked. As it turned out it wasn't welts nor was it a rash - she had suffered caustic burns from the Dry Max beads. I was livid and called Pampers immediately. They in turn asked for a release of her medical records for that appointment and I gave her pediatrician the okay to do so. I received a letter and 52 coupons for free diapers, their obvious attempt to bring me back as a consumer. I haven't purchased a single Pampers product since. Please use this with caution. My daughter isn't the only one who this happened to and that in and of itself is a very unsettling fact.

DO NOT BUY,
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Nighttime Diapers, Super Pack, Size 5, 72 Count (Health and Beauty)
I am a huge believer in the helpfulness of reviews, and use them prior to making purchase decisions. I read the reviews for this product, and was somewhat torn because of the diametrically opposing ratings. I decided to post a review for those of you that are similarly confused.
The bursting crystal thing is real, and not the result of a diaper left on too long or an unusually full bladder. My 19 month old son sleeps through the night, from about 8 pm - 7 am. We were using another brand for overnight, but decided to try Pampers Extra Protection because I did not like the way the smell of urine seemed to seep into his PJs, despite not leaking. That issue is nothing compared to the mess that greeted me when we tried the Pampers. The first morning, I was horrified by the way the Pamper was sagging. When I opened it up to change him, there were little crystals all over his groin and buttocks. Not a pleasant sight. I tried them two more times, coating him with ointment to protect his skin from the crystals. It happened again both nights. I do not work for a competitor, and this is not an attempt to launch a national campaign against any particular brand. However, as a parent, I feel that this type of failure is unacceptable, and should be shared. I am going to try to upload a picture as well.

Pampers delivers, again!,

This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 3 Diapers Big Pack 80 Count (Health and Beauty)
In the days before ordering these new diapers, my baby's "Dry Max" Pampers were being pushed to the limit during the night, sometimes resulting in an accident. After using the new Extra Protection Pampers I am happy to report that, after 12 hours, this Pamper held its own, no leaks, no accidents, while it looks it can go for a few hours more! When you open these Pampers you can see that they have added a huge piece of absorbent material on it that is not bulky, resulting in a Pamper that is still thin. It looks like one of the other normal Pampers, but with a huge absorbent capacity. I'm a believer. Hope this helps!

Extremely disappointing,
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Nighttime Diapers, Super Pack, Size 5, 72 Count (Health and Beauty)
I typically won't write negative reviews, so take that as a measure of how unhappy I am with this product. For background purposes, my 15 month old daughter does not drink heavily prior to bedtime, she just tends to pee a lot in the night and is a very solid sleeper. She tends to roll onto her tummy and sleep, so she often leaks out the top of her diaper like a little boy might experience. For months I put my daughter in the Cruisers diapers at night, a size up from the Baby Dry diapers she wore during the day. This worked until about a month or so ago. I bought a liner which worked wonderfully. However, I was given a box of the Extra Protection diapers to try. The first night she woke up around midnight, which is abnormal for her, and her diaper seemed very full to me. I was not sure it would have lasted the night. During the second night my daughter woke up just prior to 5 am. The diaper had leaked top and bottom and then wicked up and down her pjs. My daughter was literally soaked from clavical to ankles. When I opened her pjs I realized that the diaper had also ruptured and she was covered in the gel-like material from inside the diaper. It's December in Chicago, so she shivered the entire time I cleaned her up. It was sad. In nearly 15 months, I have NEVER had a diaper do this, even if she managed to sleep through a leak. Needless to say I immediately purchased more diaper inserts from Amazon because these just won't cut it. My philosophy is to use what works for your child. If these work for your little one, fantastic. Just note that catastrophic diaper failure is a strong possibility with this product.

These diapers work great. No more changing onesies first thing in the morning. Only thing is if the jellies start to come out there is a big mess on your hands but this rarely happens. I've been using these on my twins since they turned 5 months. They also work great if you are going on long trips.

Exploded in the Crib! Gross!,
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Nighttime Diapers, Super Pack, Size 4, 80 Count (Health and Beauty)
When our son (age 15 months) started leaking at night, we tried these diapers. I was horrified when, after the first night, we woke up to find that the diaper had literally exploded - burst open at the seams - and the absorbent gel material was EVERYWHERE: crib, sheets, pacifier, my son's NOSE... GROSS. We are now using a more "huggable" overnight brand without a single leak.

Absolute WORST DIAPER PURCHASE I've ever made,
By
This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 4 Diapers Jumbo Pack 27 Count (pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Had to buy these instead of the Huggies Overnights because our local grocery store was sold out of the Huggies (now I know why!). These are absolutely AWFUL. We used them for two nights on our 1-year-old son. The first night he had a few gels on him - no biggie, he had drank a lot that day and peed a lot overnight. But the 2nd time we used them, the seam on the left leg let go, and when I opened his sleeper that morning, his entire left leg was FULL of urine-soaked gels. I had an absolute MESS. I packaged the rest of the diapers up and gave them to a friend, and bought a box of Huggies Overnights. NEVER AGAIN will I buy these diapers.

Horrible!!,

This review is from: Pampers Extra Protection Size 4 Diapers Jumbo Pack 27 Count (pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I wish I had read reviews of these before I purchased them. My 20 month old wears a size 4. This diaper claims that it lasts up to 12 hours. Not true! The 1st night it lasted for 7 hours and the 2nd night it lasted 9 hours. The diaper did not just leak it exploded---the filling inside the diaper was all over! All over my daughter, her crib, and jammies. The diaper fell apart at the front opening and gel beads where everywhere!
I did call Pampers to complain. They seemed very aware of the problem and tried to offer me 2 ten dollar off coupons. To which I told them I won't be purchasing their products anymore. So instead they are mailing a $20 check. It still doesn't make me completely happy since I had to change/wash sheets and give my daughter a bath at 3am!

Hell No! Buy Huggies Overnights Instead!!,

I have been a loyal Pampers customer since my son was born. We recently found the need to use overnight diapers so we purchased your Pampers Overnights and was extremely disappointed to say the least. Your overnight diapers did not provide and ounce more protection that the regular use diapers. When I checked on my son in the middle of the night he was soaked from his chest to his ankles and there were gel beads everywhere and his skin was wet with urine. He is not allowed fluids an hour before bed time so I am sure that wasnt the issue. I notices the your overnights and your regular diapers are the same exact diaper just a different color and is a different box. We are highly disappointed and concerned because we trust the Pampers brand name and having out son sleeping in that much is highly unacceptable and left him open to diaper rash. I hope you will improve your product but for right now it its not safe for our son to use you overnight diapers.

We had decent luck with these for quite some time, but our most recent box was horrible. Not only did they leak really bad, but my daughter ended up with a chemical burn and horrible diaper rash.
