FAQ

How many diapers will I change a day?

In the first couple of months, you may find yourself changing diapers up to 10 times in 24 hours. Diapers should be changed whenever they are wet or soiled. Your baby will often (but not always) let you know. With a super-absorbent diaper like Pampers diapers, you can tell if it's wet by feeling for lumps in the absorbent material. Here are some common times for changing diapers:

  • Right before or right after every feeding
  • After every bowel movement
  • Before bedtime
  • When your baby wakes up
  • When you go out with your baby
Is there anything special I need to know about changing a diaper?

Pampers Diapers are designed to adjust to your baby's shape for a snug, comfortable fit. While changing diapers there's no need to fold the waistband in or out or to adjust the leg cuffs.

  • Place tabs parallel to the waistband and centered on the character strip.
  • Use the characters as guides to ensure the fasteners are evenly spaced.
  • Keep baby products such as powder away from the fasteners so they maintain their stickiness.
What size diaper is right for my baby?

Just like you, babies like to wear things that fit just right. Choose a size that does not sag or gap, even as your baby crawls and plays. This will help prevent leaks. Each product description on this site gives guidelines that represent the average weight for a particular size. And remember, when you move up a size, you gain absorbency.

What’s the best method to weigh my baby?

The easiest way to weigh your baby is to first hop on the scale yourself. See how much you weigh, then see how much you weigh when you hold your baby. If you subtract your weight, you'll know how much your baby weighs.

Is there any safety information I need to know about diapers?

You buy the latest toys and babies wind up playing with silly things - like diapers. It's important to keep diapers where they should be, on your baby's bottom. Don't let your baby put the diaper in her mouth. Discard any diaper that has become torn or unsealed, and read the warning label on all bags.

How do diapers absorb all that moisture?

AGM is the absorbent gelling material widely used in diaper padding to absorb wetness. It is perfectly normal to see some gel on the skin from time to time, especially if the diaper is heavily saturated. It can easily be removed by wiping your baby's skin.

This material has a long history of safe use in a variety of products and has been in diapers for more than a decade. Absorbent gelling material is closely related to ingredients widely used in cosmetics and in food processing.

Do unused diapers needs to be stored anywhere special?

Store your diapers in an area protected from extreme heat and humidity and away from products with fragrances. We recommend the diaper be kept in a dry storage area where the temperature is 85 degrees or less.

I am a Pediatric ICU nurse and have a 14-month-old daughter. I have tried many different diapers including Pampers Baby dry (which is also what we use where I work), Pampers Cruisers, Pampers sensitive, Luvs, Target brand, Costco brand, Toys r Us brand, Huggies Little Snugglers and Huggies Little Movers, and several others I'm forgetting the exact name. These are far and away my favorite as well as my husband's. These still have the dry weave mesh, and are simply the most thin and flexible we've encountered. Whenever my daughter wears the other brands I think she's wet when she isn't just because of how much bulkier those diapers are compared to the Swaddlers! My daughter has to pee a couple times to make this diaper as heavy/bulky as the others are when they are dry. And I've never had a leak with the Swaddlers which I did have with the baby dry and every other brand. My daughter is now growing out of the size 3 (she is small for her age) and I hate that I can't find another diaper from Pampers or any other brand that is as thin and absorbent or has the dry weave mesh. Actually, Amazon is the only place I can find the Swaddlers in size 3 with dry weave so I do the subscribe and save now. I highly recommend these diapers and give them as shower presents all the time. I just wish they made them in sizes bigger than 3!

I was REALLY concerned about buying these because of everything I read about the Dry Max burns and lord knows I have sensitive skin so I figured my daughter would to. But so far (and it's been about two weeks), no problems! Even though the online picture is generic, you get the same colorful box of Pamper Swaddlers that's listed elsewhere. I thought these felt a little more soft and secure than the Huggies Snugglers, but I didn't use them long enough to see if there would be any real problems with them. With Subscribe and Save the price was so good, I could afford to buy "the best" for my baby girl. Another great feature is a yellow strip that (clearly) turns blue when it gets wet so that's been pretty handy too. Anything that makes life easier is SO worth it! The only thing I don't like are the Sesame Street characters on the diapers. I know that sounds silly but I never watched the show and would rather save money and just have cute little baby animals on them- something I can identify with more.

UPDATE: We had a few Huggie diapers left and I asked my husband to help me pay attention to see if there's a difference in the quality (I really believe in helping people with honest reviews). After having used several more Huggies, I am VERY happy that we have chosen to stick with the Pampers. The Pampers Dry Max really does pull the liquid away from my baby's bottom and I feel that she's dry and comfortable, even when the diaper is wet. With the Huggie's, it seems that the diaper is still wet and thus she's sitting in that, with her skin against it. Does this mean Huggies is a BAD diaper- no. It's just that I think the Pampers is BETTER.

For us, the wetness indicator is a huge feature on diapers. These have a wetness indicator, but that isn't marketed in the product description at all for some reason - or maybe we just missed it?

Anyway, for those wondering - there IS a wetness indicator on these.

This is probably a dumb reason to like these diapers, but they smell like babies should smell (well, before they actually poop in it). When I unpack them and put them in the diaper basket, they make the whole room smell like a sweet little baby. They sufficiently do their job as expected: hold the peepee in, keep the bum dry, hold the poopies in. I have a 5 month old who is exclusively breastfed, so his poops are still pretty runny. These diapers are pretty absorbent, but, unfortunately, it still leaks out. But, they're big enough (I use a size 3 for my 22lb little chunker) where he doesn't get anymore blow outs. And, they also have a line that turns blue when the baby pees. Not really necessary anymore. It was great when he was a newborn and the only thing that mattered was that he peed, pooped, and ate. So, it was good to see how often he peed when his pees were only two drops.

They're soft, the velcro fasteners are reliable, they're not too thick. I like them way better than Costco diapers. Haven't tried Huggies or other brands. But, I've always like Pampers. And, it's a great deal through Amazon's Subscribe and Save program. It's mommy heaven--diapers and wipes delivered at your door, without you having to think about it, at the cheapest price and free shipping. Thanks Amazon!

For awhile my husband and I were buying store-brand diapers to save money, but dealt with leaks on a daily basis and our daughter's legs were getting really bad marks around her thighs from the diapers (she is a lean baby so this was unusual). We decided to start trying the name brand diapers and finally came across the Swaddlers. If ONLY they made these in 4's and 5's! Our daughter is 32" and 20lbs. She is currently in the size 3 (the largest size in this type of diaper). I love the yellow line that turns blue when wet, and the overall softness of these diapers. They are the softest diapers we have ever purchased and put on our daughter. We also have RARELY had leaking issues with these, except for overnight (she is a belly sleeper and while the bottom part of the diaper stays dry, the front part around her belly overflows out the top and onto her bed). Our daughter is at the age where we will probably need to start buying overnight diapers instead of using her regular daytime ones. I was hoping to simply bump her up to a size 4 at night, but Pampers doesn't make a Swaddlers for size 4. Looks like it's time to start the search again for a new reliable diaper! Will be sad when we have to phase these out for good.
