Book Description

Fasten your designer uniform buttons while Ms Valentine takes you on an exciting, true-life, Pan Am flight into the world of Iranian caviar and Dom Pérignon Champagne. Serving the rich and famous in first class or hosting planes full of military servicemen on R&R out of Vietnam, the unexpected was often on board. From her first step onto a 707 in 1969, right through the final days of Pan Am in 1991, Ms Valentine is spot-on with her descriptions of people, places and events. It is like taking a first-class roller-coaster ride around the world that will make you smile, laugh and cry.

She ramps up the pace in London, Frankfurt, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Beirut, Sydney, and ports between--taking you right there with her. Watch Ms Valentine mix hard work and jet lag with crew parties, romance, self-exploration, family, and "those dreaded weigh ins". On one hand, she is like Bridget Jones--trying to succeed in a male-dominated culture where the scales are constantly in front of her! And, on the other, she is more like Hawk Eye--balancing the dichotomy of a privileged job within a hierarchical military model, at the front of a war zone.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Start! October 15, 2011
By Lauren
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had very low hopes for this book as it was only $0.99 with very little detailing information. I decided to take the risk and buy it, which I am quite pleased about. The book reads as a diary, or now-a-days like a blog. I wish the author started off focusing on herself, rather the trips, as I much preferred those chapters and then the ones that followed. While reading the first chapters I wondered why there wasn't a "how I ended up here" type intro, which came later. The book did come to a rather abrupt end, which I felt could have been drawn out a bit more. Such as more detail on the remaining days of Pan Am, from her point of view. This could easily be twisted into a full length novel, or even make a great fiction story if they so chose. If the new ABC show 'Pan Am' has landed you on this page do not hesitate to buy this great quick read. (book is short, but not TOO short. Finished in 2 nights) Hope the authors continue to write in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real treat! October 1, 2011
By Gina
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Simply put, what a fabulous read! From one story to the next, the adventures of Ms. Valentine get better and better. It is a tale--A Very Plane Diary--of a woman's independence, freedom, bravery, and above all... compassion and care. To be given a glimpse into the life of a world traveling Pan Am flight attendant and to experience her adventures from her point of view is a real treat. Every time I tried to put it down, I had to keep reading to see what would happen next! I highly recommend Pan Am Unbuckled.

Really enjoyed the stories. Well written but way too short, hope there will be more. Great entertainment for less than a few lattes!

4.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful story and upbeat book October 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow! I really enjoyed this book but it went by too fast! As an avid traveller I sensed the excitement and adventure. I would love to meet this woman as she grabs life head-on. Definitely recommed this book. Paid $5.99 and it was well worth it. Ramona Fillman did a superb job capturing the magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diaries of flight attendants are published February 10, 2013
By Siarhei
Format:Kindle Edition
It's excellent book to read about the attendants' mentality. If you wanna know more about astonishing situations during civil flights, there're other books available.
A series consisting of 4 books which are truthfully and frankly told flight attendants' life stories has been published on Amazon's Kindle Store. The books contain stories by stewardesses and stewards, funny dialogues with their passengers. One of the books consists of a photo gallery of the most touching and emotional photos of flight attendants from the real life.
They are

5.0 out of 5 stars A quick, but satisfying trip October 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I thought I was going to read for a few minutes while I was waiting to be picked up from the book fair where I received Pan Am Unbuckled in an author's trade. I was so wrong. When my husband arrived we walked to the pub across the street and for more than an hour I read the diary entires outloud. I choked and sobbed my way through a story of a flight into Saigon and we were hooked to the end. That chapter alone could be it's own book and absolutely a movie. My adult sons, daughters and friends all love it too. Way too go ladies!Crystal Bound

5.0 out of 5 stars Pan Am Unbuckled: A Very Plane Diary October 9, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Delightful! The book is well written, was fun to read, and triggered lots of pleasant memories of my own Pan Am days. Each of us who worked with the "World's Premier Airline" has a little different view of the experience, but there always seems to be a common thread of pride in having been part of a unique time and place in aviation history, and the airline and people that made it happen.

Interesting but short and lightweight. Regretfully there was
no coverage of the problems facing PanAm which caused their eventual demise, nor of the Lockerbie disaster. So, this book is OK, but not as informative as it might have been.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
This is not the Pan Am I remember. It was a much classier operation than this book would lead you to believe.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very plain indeed
I had to stop reading after the first chapter. Valentine's book was so boring and her naivete so irritating that I wanted to gag.
