Turn, Tilt and Rotate Clamped Items at Will

The PanaVise Model 201 Junior miniature vise is a versatile, multi-use mini-vise that is suitable for use in everything from arts and crafts, to model making, electronics and other small projects. Lightweight, yet durable, the vise is designed around a vise head assembly constructed of a black glass reinforced thermal composite alloy connected to a die cast zinc base by PanaVise's patented ball joint clamp system, known as a "split-ball." The split-ball system not only holds items within the vise head assembly securely in position, but also allows for maneuvering of them along three separate planes. The complete range of mobility possible with the split-ball joint clamp system is a 210-degree tilt to the left or right, along with either an angled rotation or level turn range of 360 degrees. This range of mobility, especially the large left-to-right tilt, allows you to rearrange items being worked on into virtually any position, limiting the need to adjust the overall position of the vise or the item within the vise.

The head assembly of the PanaVise 201 Junior miniature vise contains a number of convenient additional features users will find valuable. The first of these revolves around is its ability to securely and safely hold items. Although the 1" wide by 2" tall, the jaws of the 201 Junior miniature vise are able to secure both tough small jobs as well as delicate jobs by way of their dual adjustment mechanism that allows for both course and fine adjustments. In addition, the holding power of the jaws can be softened further with an optional padded accessory for holding extremely delicate items (sold separately). Next, the upper ends of both jaws contain grooved ridges. These ridges are designed for detailed work with flat, angled items like circuit boards. Also, since ideal vise uses such as circuit board wiring and jewelry making, involve soldering, the vise head assembly of the PanaVise 201 Junior miniature vise is highly resistant to heat, with a continuous heat tolerance to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and intermittent heat up to 450 degrees F (204 degrees C).

Flexible Base Mount Options

The PanaVise 201 Junior miniature vise offers great flexibility of its mount possibilities. The zinc base included can be used as a stand-alone support when working with light items, or can be used to secure the vise permanently to a flat surface via its three countersunk holes (screws not included). In addition to this, the PanaVise 201 Junior miniature vise is compatible with a range of base accessories that allow for mounting and using your vise wherever your work takes you.

I have used this product for 5+ years and owned my own for 2+ and have not had any problems with it. It works great for holding anything from XLR's to 1/4" jacks to circuit boards that I'm drilling/soldering. It clamps fine, even after years of use and is adjustable to almost any angle. If you are soldering on it, you want to be careful not to touch the iron directly to the jaws for too long since they are a type of plastic, but it has no problem holding 1/4" jacks that are 200+ degF. I would recommend this for anyone doing work on cables or small circuit boards.

I bought this primarily to hold audio connecters as I solder to them, and it is absolutely ideal for that task. I haven't found a connector that it won't hold firmly, and the heat from the soldering iron doesn't seem to bother the jaws at all. The plastic jaws don't mar the connector surfaces. The vise opens and closes easily and quickly, and can be adjusted to any angle you need.

I mounted this vise on a plastic cutting board that I bought in the kitchen department of a hardware store. Not only does that give a stable base for the vise, but it also gave me a non-stick surface onto which I could splash my solder. I put rubber feet on the bottom of the cutting board, and I can also clamp it to any handy rail or shelf if I don't have a flat surface nearby.

I use this in combination with a soldering workstation that has alligator clips. I use the vise to hold the connector and the clips to hold the wire, leaving my hands free for the iron and the solder. Works like a champ!

If you are seeking an exceptional device for holding small items for observation or repair, the Panavise Jr. is simply ideal.

This vise is small, easy to adjust or rotate and the precise non-marring jaws make it a perfect solution for many situations.

Although the unit may be bench mounted, I used a small piece of of plywood and installed some rubber feet on the plywood. The unit becomes mobile if needed by attaching to a plywood base.

It is an excellent product and performs and indicated. I have used the vise to hold some really small and delicate items without and hesitation.

this is the best clamp i have found for soldering connectors (such as XLR, RCA, DB9, etc). I also have the magnetic base and recomend it. In 10 years I have broken two of them by dropping them off a ladder. the pot metal between the ball joint and the clamps breaks. Its still the best option so I always buy another one. I feel that it is slightly overpriced.

I have recently become reacquainted with DIY electronics, one of my boyhood hobbies. But I have a small desk at home, dominated by a laptop computer, a stack of books, and the flotsam and jetsam of a busy job and family. The Panavise Junior is great for me; I can clamp a small circuit board in its jaws and use it without bolting it down - the flared base is just wide and heavy enough to stay put - then put the whole shooting match aside when my attention must turn elsewhere. The v-shaped grooves on the jaws make it easy to clamp round stock or hold a board by its edges, and I can easily flip a board for soldering by operating the universal joint at the top of the base, something I couldn't do with my previous set of Helping Hands. The Panavise Junior is perfect for the job.

It has a nice design, great base for balance and a nice range of clamping. Depending on the intensity of usage, the tilting fnction might get loose and/or the clamping knob tends to break (which, of course, renders the vise competely useless). The company does not respond to emails regarding the warranty and I never tried to return the broken one for a free replacement (since I registered the product via the website and never got any response from them). Otherwise, probably the best mini vise in the market because of its sturdy base and relatively low price.

I have this mounted to the 312 base-mount. This is my go-to helper when it comes to soldering connectors onto audio cables and repairing small circuit boards. The plastic vise jaws are not sturdy enough for anything other than light work. If you have a power supply circuit board populated with lots of heavy components, you will be frustrated. If you want to saw or file or sand something, this will disappoint. Also, the twist-knob for opening and closing the vise jaws is impossible to turn quickly. I recommend the optional speed-knob. What it does, it does very well. Its just limited in what it can do.
