5.0 out of 5 stars I love the dial. Can we have more dials everywhere, please?
I'd love to say that my relationship with microwaves is nuanced and sophisticated. They've been around for 30 years, I've been around longer - cooking and eating all the while. But no - the only variable I've ever set on a Microwave is "cooking time."

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice little MW, but display can only be read at eye level.
Nice little MW oven. Fine for reheating leftovers and popcorn. Nice design except for a really annoying oversight: You can't read the LCD display! When standing all you can see displayed is 88:88. You have to bend down to the level of the microwave to see the clock, time, power setting etc. An odd and irritating oversight for a unit designed to sit on a counter.

I'd love to say that my relationship with microwaves is nuanced and sophisticated. They've been around for 30 years, I've been around longer - cooking and eating all the while. But no - the only variable I've ever set on a Microwave is "cooking time."

Which brings me to my delight with the dial. Dial up the time, press start and it cooks in its monotonous, microwavy way.

Better yet, the dial on this machine feels like the volume control on a fine stereo system. It's heavy and smooth, with satisfying, almost subliminal haptic ticks. No cheap plastic egg-timer hand feel (as with its sister appliance, the toaster oven.)

Beyond the dial, it cooks like a microwave; looks really, really good looking; and is easy to clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars great microwave, July 4, 2009

I really like this microwave. The LCD display reads fine from every angle, so I've had no problems like a previous reviewer mentioned. It does beep five times when finished, which seems more than necessary, but it works great and has a really nice sleek stainless steel look. I love the pop-out dial, too. The popcorn feature works perfectly and it makes great baked potatoes. Just handy in every way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong dimensions, January 4, 2011
This review is from: Panasonic 0.8-Cubic-Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel
The dimensions stated in Amazon are erroneous. The true dimensions are: Unit Dimensions (H x W x D) 11 1/8" x 19" x 14 5/16". Taken from Panasonic's site. Rated it only because Amazon does not provide for comments without rating.

If you are going to buy this microwave, I would suggest you DO NOT place this microwave at counter level. The is one major flaw with this microwave; the display can only be read at eye level. If you are standing above this microwave you wont be able to read the screen. The problem of the screen is compounded by the fact that you spin a dial to set the time. Unlike a microwave with a touch pad, you really need to see the display because how do you know that you turned the dial for 25 seconds or 3 minutes? Answer: You have to look at display. Cooking with this microwave requires you to bend over while looking at the display. The dial is a good idea for locations that are fairly dark (where you can't see a normal microwave's touch pad) AND you have this mounted at eye level. As a microwave it works fine (no complaints), but the display is horrible. I am just hoping this microwave breaks soon so I can justify replacing it.

This is a good little microwave,a full size plate fits nicely. It has a quick min. button,an 8 min. cook button and a timer twist knob that is awsome. My only bitch is the clock is hard to read from any angle other than straight on.

I find two things about this microwave very annoying on a daily basis. There is no number pad on this product. Any time I want to enter a number, whether it is setting the clock or entering a cook time, I have to turn the dial. The dial seems to work: 10 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, 5 minutes. Come on guys; how much money did you save by eliminating the number key pad. Second, the glass plate has three notches to synch up with the gizmo that turns the plate. However, the gizmo has only one element. Therefore two of the plates notches are not aligned with anything, which caused the plate to slip and clunk until the parts line up again. It appears to me the manufacturer has done minimal cost reductions at the cost of customer satisfaction.

4.0 out of 5 stars As expected ..., December 31, 2010

After reading hundreds of reviews of microwave ovens, I settled on this small Panasonic. As expected, the display is difficult to read, but that isn't a show-stopper for me.

This microwave is just the right size, seems powerful enough, is attractive and appears to be made well. I got used to the dial time mechanism quickly enough.

Seems to be a good value for the price.

microwave works really well. It is a little smaller than I expected, but otherwise does a great job. I really like the knob for adjusting time. The unit is quiet and does a really good job of warming food in a hurry.

it works well. A little bit noisy, but it's supposed to be when working!
The light is a little bit dark, but still enough to see.
Enough functions.
It looks pretty cool ^^ especially for modern kitchen.
