Vivid HDTV Panasonic CT-27HL15 27,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic CT-27HL15 27" HD-Ready Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
Awesome HDTV without LCD which is why I rate this a 5 Star. My computer monitor is a LCD and depending on angle looks foggy not like this regular screen HDTV clarity is present at all angles this is one fine setup with plenty of output jacks for all components especially X-Box and SP2. Menu screens are easy to set with many options are a pro only con set is on the heavy side but qualtity picture makes up for the size and weight of the tv. Have not experienced HD channel or movie yet but have it hooked up to a digital box and with this kind of vivid clear picture now I'm sure the HD experience will knock my socks off can't wait ...5***** All the way

Horrid in Every Way,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Let me begin by saying I should have heeded the previous reviews. It was a huge mistake on my part. Unfortunataely, I let my desire for a 27 inch high def television that would fit in my existing cabinet cloud my judgement. I have learned my lesson now. I will never again buy an item from Amazon that I cannot return. My first complaint is that the dimmensions listed in the product descriptions are simply untrue. The item is wider than stated. This means that I now am the not-so-proud owner of a television that does not fit in my cabinet. Due to Amazon's policy of no returns on this item I have no option but to accept it in spite of the false discription. If that was not bad enough, the television itself is broken. It shuts itself off after less than sixty seconds. I tried all of the "trouble shooting" nonsense without success. I strongly suspect that I was sold a reconditioned television. I, of course, tried to contact the only licenced repair shop in under a three hour drive. Because of my extremely remote location, they refuse to come and service the television. This is flatly against the stated "in home service" policy as stated by Panasonic. The shop is willing to sever their contract with Panasonic rather than make the (no doubt) unprofitable trip out to my home. Tomorrow my toddler and I will try and bring the television into the shop and make it back home before my older children are released from school. We will have to repeat the process in reverse on a later date. I could just scream. Please, do not buy anything from Amazon that you cannot return after delivery. I have been lied to in the product description, sold a non-functioning television, and faced absolutely no support in trying to have the situation remedied. Stick to books and music.

wrong dimensions,
This review is from: Panasonic CT-27HL15 27" HD-Ready Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
The dimension of width for this TV as stated on the Panasonic website obtained through Amazon.com was not correct. It stated a width of 29.1 inches, actually it is 31 inches. I feel that this is more than a typo. I have a piece of furniture that the TV slides into; the dimensions of the TV have to be the same size or smaller. It was after the TV was delivered and signed for that I noticed a warning on the TV box that said the buyer must inspect the contents before signing, otherwise, once signed, it can't be returned. How do you do this? It takes at least 10 minutes to open the box, with all the metal straps? I guess you're suppose to keep the mover there while you plug in the TV and go through all the menu driven configurations? I went to department stores with a tape measure inspecting other TV models. I found that a 27 inch TV was too big for my furniture. So I was very pleased when I found on the website that his model had the right dimensions. (The stores did not carry this specific model, however). Now I'm stuck with a large TV and a piece of furniture with a big hole in it.

No problems here...,

I purchased this TV back in November of 2005 from Circuit City, and have not had any problems with it. My parents had an earlier version of the same 27" HDTV and were very pleased with it. Theirs is still working after 3 years of use and I have had no problems with mine at all.The HD picture is great, and I like that you can see the full picture from any viewing angle. Being a 27" TV, it fit perfectly into our living room. Setup was very easy, and the abundance of inputs allows me to have all of my equipment connected at once. I'm sorry other people have had problems, but I would definately reccommend this TV to my friends.

Do NOT buy this from Amazon,

Took me more than 2 weeks to receive this TV, which was fine. However, it's not working from minute one--the huge thing just would not turn on!! I went through all the trouble--calling panasonic customer service, calling the local servier, calling another local servier since the first one insisted that I bring this TV over to their store, which is against the in-home service warranty. Finally someone came and picked it up. But the communication between the local servicer and Panasonic is still gonna take some time and I don't know what would be the agreement between them.I suspect that Amazon sold us an used TV (when I told the repair guy this thought, he said "that explains the damage"). We ordered the TV on Aug 21, and today (Sept 12)I am still waiting, hoping that it will come back and be OK. So if you take my lesson, go to local circuit city or bestbuy. Just don't buy from Amazon.

Stay Away From Panasonic TV,

My wifes parents purchased a Panasonic 27" HDTV from Circuit City in 2004. Several months ago the picture went out followed soon by the sound. Of course the factory warranty is only good for a year and they didn't buy an extended warranty. Doesn't matter...Circuit City (seller) has gone belly-up in our town. In retrospect...not a good idea to refuse the extended warranty however these days the eletronics in tvs TYPICALLY last for quite a while. I have a 12 or 13 year old JVC that runs constantly without a hitch. My in-laws watch tv much less than we do so this Panasonic doesn't have a lot of hours on it. And yes, it does have a good surge protector. The repair service says the tv cannot be repaired for less than the cost of a new tv. Don't know the particulars (I intend to find out) BUT I cannot stress this strongly enough to anyone in the market for a new tv...STAY AWAY FROM PANASONIC TVS! They are obviously JUNK! I've personally never seen a piece of electronics this expensive with this short of a lifespan. Only reason I gave it one star is Amazon doesn't allow a 0 rating.

Great TV!,
This review is from: Panasonic CT-27HL15 27" HD-Ready Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
Don't have HD TV on my cable system yet, but I wanted an HD capable to play my Xbox 360 on. The 360 looks great in 1080i. Regular standard def TV looks great too.
