Great for DVD movies, beats Sony Wega hands down,

I've been shopping for a 27" TV for my room to watch DVD movies in letterbox format. I've compare picture quality between the Sony Wega and Toshiba. The Panasonic comes out ahead of the pack. They all have 3 line comb filter, but the Sony only have 500 lines across compare to Toshiba and Panasonic which has 700 lines. Which the CT27SF37 has a clearer picture.

2 burned out picture tubes!!,

Two bad tubes within 25 months. Panasonic and Sears washed their hands clean on the second time saying the 2 year tube warranty start from original date of purchase. I will never buy Panasonic again. I had a Sony that would not quit after 20 years. All Sears can say is you should have bought the extended warranty. Never again!!!

When I initially started shopping for a TV, I planned on buying a Sony Trinitron Wega. After seeing this TV in a store, however, I realized the picture was much better than the Wega - much less dot crawl. This TV is also much more feature laden than the Wega - the dual PIP is a nice bonus and makes the TV an excellent value compared to the Wega. The sound is pretty good for a TV. When the "Surround Spatializer" is on, I actually sometimes end up looking behind me to see where the sound is coming from (i usually check to see if my stereo is off!). The screen is not "SuperFlat" as Panasonic claims, but it is pretty close to flat. Overall, i think this TV provides an excellent picture, great sound, and good features. I now only wish i spent the extra money on the 32"...

Good but WEGA Better,
By A Customer

This TV is good but I bought it when Sony did not offer a 27in WEGA. The picture and sound are good but the WEGA - for the same price - is superior.

Nice quality, but not a great unit,

I don't see how some people think this is better than the Sony WEGA. The construction of this TV is cheap plastic, and it looks it! This units distorts the picture in the corners and the picture quality is not that nice even if you change the setting to the maximum sharpness on the menu. Some of the features are nice... Like the automatic close-captioning when you press the MUTE button, and the PIP is a nice addition of course. All in all I wasn't satisfied with this purchase and returned it for a "True" flat screen for the same price.
