The Panasonic CT34WX50 34-inch HDTV compatible Pure Flat TAU monitor has a width-to-height ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing you with cinema-style entertainment right in your own home. Moreover, it enables full-screen viewing of high-definition broadcasts and DVD videos, which are produced in 16:9 format. The PureFlat picture tube delivers richly detailed images with incredible depth from corner to corner, giving you a unique viewing experience. Unlike regular curved screens, the PureFlat screen minimizes reflections and distortions, so you can enjoy distraction-free TV viewing no matter where you're sitting in the room.

The CT34WX50 doubles as an HDTV monitor, allowing you to view high-definition broadcasts. When paired with a digital receiver, this HDTV monitor will captivate you with vibrant, high-resolution digital programming unlike any analog broadcast you've seen.

Its 3-D Y/C digital comb filter performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information. This filter removes both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl. In addition, the built-in progressive scan doubler displays a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second by de-interlacing the incoming video signal and progressively scanning the image, eliminating the horizontal scan lines that are often visible in ordinary television images.

In addition, the CT34WX50's two built-in tuners let you watch two TV programs simultaneously by dividing the screen in half down the middle. You can monitor breaking news events while watching a movie, or keep track of two sporting events happening at the same time. With each program shown at full height, it's like picture-in-picture, only bigger. The audio is played from the program on the left; to listen to the audio from the program on the right, simply switch the pictures with the SWAP button.

This monitor also features dual component-video input jacks, each set consisting of one luminance signal and two separate chrominance signals. By combining these signals, Panasonic is able to give you video images that have outstanding resolution and color accuracy. Panasonic televisions with these component video inputs can accept either progressive or interlaced signals from a variety of sources, including DVD players and DTV set-top boxes. Four sets of A/V input jacks, one in the front and three in the rear, you can bypass the tuner and connect your A/V sources directly to the audio and video circuits of your TV for optimum picture reproduction. The video input is composite video.

Rounding out the CT34WX50's convenience features is the Director lighted disc remote. The only remote you'll need to operate all your home theater components, the Director remote has recently been redesigned to provide easier, more accurate control. The Director remote controls most current video devices, such as VCRs, cable TV boxes, laser disc players, DBS receivers, and DVD players, as well as audio devices like stereo receivers, CD players, and cassette tape decks.

Great picture, many features and a multitude of color adjustments possible.

This is a very heavy TV, pricy, but if you can afford this is the unit you want.

The wide screen is what seperates this unit from the rest plus it's size doesn't dominate a room but it's 34" picture is large enough even in my 20'x14'room.

The 1080I format seems to be where the industry is heading with CBS being the first major network now transmitting exclusivly in this format.

If you want to be the first on the block with a HDTV, this is the one you want.

I was going to buy a home theatre, but i didn't have a very big room, so I couldn't fit a projection TV in there without it looking very good since I would be sitting very close to it. I thought my chances of having a home theatre were slim to none, because there arent very many widescreen(16:9) tube TVs out there. So I went into an electronics store that my friend owned, and his brother was the specialist for home theatre-type equipment and installing them. I explained my situation, and he said this is the one of the cheapest widescreen tubes out there, and in his and most everyone's opinion the best picture quality out of all of them(without going into the plasma catagory). And he was right. I was amazed by the picture quality, and it was beyond anything I have ever seen before. And I got a home theatre package from sony which was a progressive scan DVD player and had Dolby Digital/DTS decoders on it, and has 1 optical and digital coaxial inputs on it, which is great for digital cable(for coaxial) and HDTV(for optical). And it has great sound coming out of all 5 speakers and it is amazing when combined with this TV. I have to say this is the best.

I bought the Panasonic CT34WX50. I love it. The wife thinks its a phenominal picture, but that we should have bought a bigger set.

This set makes cable television images look smooth - no lines, DVDs are breathtaking, and Over The Air true HighDef sources are absolutely awesome (with SIR-T150 Digital TV receiver). Wife and I just keep saying "wow...wow...wow" with every scene change.
