The video features include a fine-pitch picture tube to enable an image with much finer detail, velocity-modulated scan to produce sharp dark-to-light transitions and outstanding edge definition, and color temperature control which lets you adjust the white balance toward blue (colder), or red (warmer).
For audio, the CT27SX10 features a built-in stereo/SAP decoder with dbx noise reduction to receive both Separate Audio Program (SAP) and TV stereo telecasts where available. A dbx noise reduction system helps provide clear, crisp sound with proper stereo separation, and the Dome sound system offers both high-quality audio performance and a space-saving cabinet design. Wide separation of the speakers provides excellent stereo imaging, while separate bass, treble, and balance controls let you adjust the sound to your personal preference. The Artificial Intelligence sound level control prevents wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming.
Conveniences include 16-channel favorite channel scan, a 181-channel NTSC tuner, built-in closed caption decoder, and channel labeling capability (create your own captions for channels). V-chip program lockout helps parents lock out unwanted programming, and the programmable timer allows you to program the TV to turn itself on and off at a selected channel and time every day. The auto-programmable scan function checks all available channels in your area (or on your cable system) and automatically tunes them into memory. You can then add or delete the channels of your choice.
The CT27SX10 comes with a universal lighted home theater remote control that operates your current Panasonic audio and video equipment, along with a one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor.
Unlike regular curved TV screens, our PureFlat screen minimizes reflections and displays a distortion-free picture with incredible depth and clarity. Powerful stereo speakers and surround sound systems provide the perfect audio accompaniment.
Several Tau Series TVs are DTV-compatible so they can display DTV programming in a high-resolution format. These models feature advanced digital processing technology, such as ID-1 detection for anamorphic DVD and 10-bit/57 MHz digital-to-analog conversion, for the optimum picture quality from today's digital sources. The analog sets in the Tau Series have component video inputs for hookup of an optional HDTV receiver/decoder.
Each Tau Series television features a generous supply of input and output jacks so you can easily hook up all the latest digital audio and video components. Controlling your system is easy too, thanks to our lighted universal remotes.

This review is from: Panasonic CT27SX10 27" TAU Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I purchased this unit from "the city of circuits" on 2/19/06. One of the stores in my area was sold out, but the other one had 12 in stock. Mine was on sale for $299.As this unit was replacing a 17" old tv in my bedroom entertainment center, I didn't want to spend too much or get one too big. This unit fit the bill in every category. I have satellite at my house and the S-Video cable (not included) turns out an exceptional picture. The colors are vivid and I don't see any distortion you might expect from a flat-panel television. The rear was surprisingly not as deep as I imagined. I did have to cut out the fiberboard back of my entertaiment center to accomodate the larger unit. I also had to move my EC from the wall another inch or two to accomodate the deeper back, but overall, it's nothing major. If you're like most people these days, your TV runs its sound through a stereo system, so having massive speakers on the side is nothing but a waste of space. That's one reason I liked this unit. The built-in speakers only take up about two inches (if that) on each side. I'm not using the menu or controls at all since I control everything from my satellite unit, but it all appears to work very simply. One note of warning: This unit has no real handles to help you pick it up, and the box it comes in has the handles located to to the edge of one side. You really need two people to move this unit around. I'm very satisfied with this TV. Dobeman
