I've always liked the Panasonic cordless phones and I decided I wanted to replace an old answering machine and an old 2.4Ghz phone with something new, so I got this set. Now it can be a bit confusing when trying to figure out which set to get, I had it down to 4 different Panasonic DECT units. Having looked at them in person, I went with this one in part because I like the look, but also it had the smallest base unit, and I wanted to take up as little space as possible on my desk.
The sound quality on the set is good, the new screens are easy to read, and even nicer compared to my parents 5.8Ghz Panasonic, the latest Pannys use conventional rechargeable AA/AAA (I forget which offhand) batteries, rather than proprietary batteries, so these will be easier to replace someday. Plus the handset is a lot lighter compared to the older 5.8Ghz handset. Anyway, I'm very happy with it, great unit for the price.

I'm a senior who's prime with technology has waned. I only use the simplist of mobile phones, no Ipods and the like - too damn complicated for my agreeable retired life. I'm not the generation that needs to be wired to the world - been there done that when I worked! When I first saw this Panasonic I almost panicked - too many complicated features it seemed, but not so bad after a few missteps setting it up and the instruction book does requires some thought. Desired features for me was easy turning off ringer and speaker phone - but are great. I don't use all the features and I don't quite understand some - like when someone calls where in hades does this thing store their number - sometimes its on the caller list and sometimes don't seem to be. Still haven't figured out how to add those calling numbers to my directory. Not so straight forward as my old old AT&T cordless. My feature rating is somewhat arbitrary and only based on a month of use. It seems substantial but not as heavy duty as my old - time will tell. Battery life seems good but mine is mostly kept in the base. Range covers all rooms in my small Honolulu apartment and a fair distance down the hall. Sound quality is quite good after the few annoying seconds of voice feedback in my ear when I first start talking - it quickly goes away but I'd prefer it not happen. Overall I'm quite happy with my selection. I buy a lot from Amazon and base my decisions to buy on the reviews - hopes this helps someone.

This phone is tremendous. Lots of great features (talking Caller ID!), lightweight, good battery life, easy to use...and if this weren't enough, it's Energy Star qualified! Love this phone. Great product at a great price.

About ten years ago, I owned a Sony brand 900mhz phone with digital answering system that was of amazing quality. Japanese electronics are usually some of the best available and this was very true of this Sony phone. I thought this thing would last forever since I had dropped it more than once and it never got a scratch and kept working perfectly. Of all the things that phone could withstand I never thought it would need to be water-proof. One day my toddler daughter poured her water glass onto it ruining the phone. Ever since that day I bounced around all of the cheap phones out there. GE, Uniden, V-Tech, etc. and all have been absolute junk. Horrible build construction, horrible battery life, horrible sound quality etc.
Finally my wife and I were fed up with it and decided to get a "good" phone. Unfortunately it seems that the options for home phones have dwindled since the explosion of cellular phone use. It seems that more and more households do not use a home phone and instead use their cell phone for the majority of their calls. We looked and demoed all of the phones at the store and couldn't find one that matched the quality of our old Sony. That is until we came across the Panasonic, another Japanese company. Even though the demo unit was superior to the other demo units of other phones at the store, it was still a bit flimsy and I was skeptical. We were desperate for a new phone so I took a gamble and ordered a model off of Amazon.com where I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived that it was of much better quality than the demo unit at the store. See, demo units are usually gutted systems or are perhaps "seconds" that had flaws in the manufacturing process and are set aside to be used as a non-functional demo unit. This was why the system at the store felt flimsy when I held it and pressed the buttons. The actual unit that arrived was sturdy and of good construction. This particular unit has MANY quality features and I especially like the informative LCD screen. It also had an incredible range and a very clear and concise answering system. It's very easy to retrieve and delete messages as opposed to the last cheap phone that we had. Scrolling through the messages and deleting the unwanted recordings was a hassle and time consuming. Not so with the Panasonic. So in a time where most people use cell phones it seems that Panasonic makes the last great home phone and I highly recommend it.

My previous phone was simple and fairly old, so there was a learning curve with this one. Not everything is intuitive, such as moving the little stick up and down to change volume on the handset, or not using it much at all when navigating the menu. But once I got the hang of it, I got nice features like a directory for my most used numbers, and the ability to set ring tones for specific callers. Now I know whether I need to get up to answer during the big game or just let the machine get it. The phone itself looks modern and stylish, and takes half the space my old one did. The sound quality is good, and unlike my old wireless phone this one isn't picking up my neighbor's conversations. The answering machine is very easy to use, though you better not lose the manual if you need to reset it at any point. That part required typing in codes and was a bit unpleasant, but you won't have to do it more than once. The standard rechargeable AAA batteries will be easy to replace when the time comes. I'm happy with this product and expect to keep it for years to come.

We replaced our very old (10 yrs?) Panasonic phone with this one. So far (1 week) it works very well. It's nice that it takes up so little space. We are not super-intense about the features, but the ones we have used work nicely. Other reviews have mentioned a learning curve; there really isn't much of one if you just want to get started using the phone and the voice mail. You can learn other features gradually as needed.

Pros: 1. Doesn't take up much room. 2. Clear voice. 3. Many features 4. Good instruction booklet
Cons: 1 Slow dialer 2. Alpha speed dial directory. Sometimes faster to dial the number. The pros definately outweigh the cons on this one. It takes a little getting used to, but when you do, it is the best I've used. Haven't used the answering machine yet. That's on a different phone in a different part of the house, but I expect it will be as good as the rest of the phone. The screen is very clear and easy to read. Caller ID pops up the name on the screen and the voice ID is clear. As soon as the Uniden that is answering messages goes (and it won't be long. I'll just get an add-on for this.

Good product for the price...sound can echo if your hearing volume is up too loud. Answering system works great and is easy to setup. Call blocking is also a nice feature.

So far this has been a great phone. We haven't had very much luck with cheap phones from a discount store, so we decided to try a known brand name from amazon. We are happy with our purchase.

It's easy to set up, but not easy to operate without the instruction book at hand. Sound seems to be weak, even after increasing the volume with the joystick. The voice on the caller ID is quite funny, particularly the pronunciation of names.
Erasing a call from the call log seems to be more complicated than necessary. |
