Long Range, Excellent Clarity and Greater Security
DECT 6.0 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound. It also assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls. Operating in the 1.9GHz frequency range, your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common household devices.
Put a Handset in Every Room
With two handsets (one base and one satellite handset) and the option of adding four additional handsets1 — all while using only one base and one phone jack — go ahead and put one in the den, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the living room so you won't have to make a run for it when the phone rings.
Silent Mode Lets You Choose When and Where the Phone Rings
Now you can program each handset to ring — or not — at your discretion. Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to Silent Mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom. In the meantime, the handset in the den will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping.
The Phone That Talks
Now you don't have to be holding the phone to see who's calling. Using text-to-speech technology, the Caller ID2 information is announced between rings. The phone also boasts a talking alarm clock that will tell you when it's time for lunch, and a talking battery alert that politely tells you when your battery is low with a "Please charge phone" reminder.
Block Unwanted Calls
Store the Caller ID info of any and all unwanted callers into your phone's Call Block list so that you can eliminate future pesky calls. After the information is stored, those unwanted callers will receive a busy signal when they call you again.
Never Miss a Call with the Light-Up Indicator
Don't miss important calls when the ringer is off. The Light-Up Indicator with Ringer Alert at the base of the antenna will flash quickly to show that you have an incoming call, and it will flash slowly to let you know you have a new message. So turn off the ringer and never miss a call.
1. Additional handsets sold separately.
2. Requires subscription to name-and-number Caller ID, call waiting and/or voice mail services offered by certain local telephone companies for a fee.
What's in the Box
Two cordless handsets, one base, one charger, one telephone cord line, two AC adapters, four batteries, two belt clips, one wall mount kit, and operating instructions.

Excellent Phone System,

We purchased and received this cordless phone/answering system a week ago. So far, it has provided flawless operation. It was very easy to set up. Everything works as it should, with enough range on the handsets for our three story home with no noise or interference. The caller ID voice announcements are fun, although the name pronunciation on some callers is funny to hear (that feature can be turned off if it annoys you). We have not had any unexpected volume change problems as reported on some Panasonic cordless models. All in all, we are very pleased with this device.

Bought this phone to replace an 10 year old Panasonic model which was still working fine, but getting that well-worn appearance. I am very pleased with the phone's appearance and comfortable feel, plus it is easy to set up and use. Has all the features we need and the sound quality is great. The ringer can be set quite loud and is loud when on speaker phone too. I was so pleased, I bought another one for my 90 year old mother who has trouble hearing. The screen characters are large and the buttons are a nice size. I like well-designed products that work great, and this is definitely one of those.

I couldn't make up my mind whether to buy this phone for months; the negative reviews (difficult manual, poor sound quality) worried me. If you're on the fence as I was, go ahead & order it. It's a very good phone at a reasonable price. If you do the following I'll bet you'll be satisfied: 1. Unpack it, insert batteries, plug base unit & charger unit into electric outlets. Don't connect the phone line yet; keep using your old phone & allow the handsets to charge the required 7 hours. Do not read ahead in the manual; it will only scare you! 2. Connect the phone line to the base unit & sit down with it, the handset from that unit, & the manual. Go through the manual page by page, playing around with each feature to learn how it works. Call your landline # from your cell phone to try out caller ID & the answering machine. 3. The first time you answer the phone or make an outgoing call, turn the volume on the handset down to the middle setting. The sound quality out of the box was terrible, which several reviewers mentioned, but it's because of the volume setting, not a problem with the phone. The default setting is "high." As soon as I set it to the middle volume level, the sound quality was absolutely fine!
About the phonebook: It alphabetizes by the first letter entered, so unless you want to alphabetize people by their first names, you have to enter names with the last name first. You can put as many names with the same first letter in as you wish, contrary to what one review stated. About the call block feature: I didn't care about this feature when I ordered the phone but I love it! Since the "do not call" legislation has tons of loopholes we are still bothered by too many calls we don't want, & now when I get one of those I just add the number to my blocked list. The phone still gives half a ring while it is identifying the number & then it just disconnects. I have only three complaints, none of which is bad enough to make me not recommend this phone. The first is it is hard to hold the handset against my ear with my shoulder because of the shape. It tapers in thickness toward the top so it wants to slide down. The second is all those 3-digit feature codes - surely the Panasonic programmers could have made this phone completely menu-driven! Luckily most of the commonly-used features are menu-driven. The third is that the talking caller ID doesn't start until after the 2nd ring. I wish it would start as soon as it identifies the number. I really like my new phone & I'm so glad I bought it!
