I've had this camera for almost a year, now, and I love the quality of it's output - the ease of switching modes - and most especially THE ZOOM! I had to make a decision: a camera that can slip into my pants pocket and be quick & easily accessible; or one that would allow me to zoom in to capture greater detail of distant objects. I'm certainly glad I opted for the latter. With most point and shoot cameras, it's hard to even recognize your subject unless you are right on top of them when shooting. They work great for up-close and personal shots ... and for "set" shots. Ever tried getting a quick shot of a grandkid marching in a parade? With most p&s cams, you are lucky to recognize any faces. With this camera's zoom, you don't have to identify which "little head" belongs to you .... you can easily zoom to a head shot. Shooting nature and landscape is enhanced, as well. You can take the regular "big picture" shot .... but follow-up w/ zooming in on individual points of particular interest. It is a trade-off - it's bulky to carry around. While it's quite light, it's shape isn't conducive to a belt-held holster and, for me, it usually gets carried by neck or shoulder strap. That makes it more intrusive when performing normal activities and requires a greater awareness lest it be left sitting in the booth at the last diner. But, I think it's worth it!

The Panasonic DMC-FZ28 is a stellar performer. I do not know the techniques of photography, but know that the results are pleasing to look at.
The camera bag shipped with the bundle was too small, and so useless, we ended up buying a bag from a local retailer.
