Well, I LOVE the camera! It's very easy to use. Pictures look awesome! And I have to say they look so much better than in the Sanyo I originally got, which was 10MP. Video image and sound are extremely good also. I've used and had other digital cameras before. This is the best one I've got. The only down part is that it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries, which I strongly encourage everybody to get. I use the camera a LOT, and the batteries do not wear out as fast as with other cameras I've used. Of course, if you use the flash a lot...the battery will die faster.

Overall, I have to say, it is a very nice camera. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I love it!

Here are a few things you need to know about this camera.

- Very good sensor, which means excellent photographs
- Intelligent mode is very helpful for people who don't know too much about camera settings.
- I've owned a few cameras at this price range, none of which even come close to the picture quality that this camera gives.
- The only downside is that it doesn't feel strongly built and may not be able to take much punishment. I'm speculating as I have not thrown the camera against a rock.

I purchased this camera to replace an older 5mp Nikon for our trip to Washington DC for 9/12. We set it to Intelligent Auto which does everything for you. It was easy to use and am very pleased with the pix. The battery life was very good and with a 4mg SDHD card it would hold 1000 pix so never had to worry I would run out of room. All in all, I think I made the right purchase for us and would definitely recommend to anyone who is not a shutterbug and just needs a simple to use camera that gets great results.

This camera is highly recommended by many reviewers as the top camera in its class.


This camera is excellent for outdoor nature with good lighting. You need to anticipate a shot by depressing te shuttr halfway and then fully depressing for your shot.
The camera is also esxcellent for flowers, insects and all things small either with good lighting or with a fash.
The camera is average for indoor flash shots from 5-8 feet away. Movies (includng HDTV) come out well even with marginal lighting. The wonderful thing about this camera is that is sports a 12z zoom and image stabalization and yet it is small enough that you can always carry it with you. Just remember it low ighting limitations and you will be very happy with te camera.

Pros:
compact size. Easily fits in shirtpocket or purse.
simple to use in the default dumbeddown mode. I gave this camera to my wife and she was instantly taking pictures.
Good color quality.
Sharp focs with ufficient light as outdoors on sunny day.
12x optical zoom is useful over entire range.
Good battery life and cmpact charger is easy to carry for travel.
Excellent HDTV movies
Excellent macro/flashwith great focus and color.

Just OK's.
Not the fastest to shoot a picture, but adequate.
HDTV eding for ACHD format is in its infancy.

Cons
Weak indoor camera. Camera will auto select ISOP whichwill enable you to get truly unmemorable shots which yo cannot delete fast nough.
Best to alwas se flash indoors and then to only shoot for focus about 5 to 8 fee away or picture will be overexposed/bad focus or dark.

I did some very brief research and bought this camera based mostly on the price and customer reviews. It was my first Panasonic and I just wanted a P&S that I could carry on my belt (with separate case that I bought).

The camera was disappointing. Although the quality of the pictures in general were good, we missed a lot of good opportunities because of camera recycling time. And if you leave it on continuous shots, you get SO many at one time that it takes up your memory stick, so you have to go and delete one by one, which is not easy when looking through the LCD screen.

The construction also seems a bit cheaply done.

I won't return the camera, however, I will probably keep it in the car for "event emergencies," those times when you wish you had had a camera on you. If it gets stolen, so be it.

And the case that I found online for it was a very bulky one, defeating the purpose of getting a small P&S.

I would suggest to all users to look into the Canon sd780is (which I ended up buyin) or the Nikon Coolpix 630.

This is a nice little inexpensive camera ,easy to operate,takes great pictures even on auto,as long as you dont expect (...) camera quality pictures,for the price its nice,easy for wife to use,a little hard on batteries but maybe thats my fault for on/off all time and reviewing my pictures

Using AA batteries is a big advantage - you do not have to worry about rechargables dieing at the wrong time.
Just carry a couple of AA's with you. Fits in a pocket or purse.
This is great for foreign travel. Batteries last a long time compared to my Coolpix which has very short battery life.
Very good picture quality with great contrast and color saturation.
Carry it everywhere with you - you never know when a great picture will appear. Excellent value.

I bought this camera right before my vacation to Hawaii in October, hoping that it would take better pictures, especially at night, than my previous camera. I was not disappointed. The photos are nice and sharp, even at night. I also love the video. Portability was a key feature for me as I wanted this camera to serve as my primary point-and-shoot - it's small and light-weight so I could successfully carry it with me in my purse or in even my pocket if necessary. The Auto setting does a great job of capturing the view in a realistic way. The menus are SO user friendly. I love the menu for changing to the pre-set scenery modes. There is also a button on the top for quickly changing back and forth between Auto and the last scene you previously used (or the video mode). The screen on the back of the camera is larger than most and the lens has a wide view for capturing larger groups of people at close distances. This has been a major advantage for many of my point-and-shoot occasions. I also chose this camera because it uses normal AA batteries. The lithium AA batteries work fantastic.

Here's what I would improve if I could: 1) I wish the camera came with its own traveling case; 2) the auto focus is normally very good but sometimes it has trouble focusing on the correct spot, for example taking pictures out of car windows; and 3) the function for switching back and forth from taking pictures and viewing previously obtained pictures is a bit slow. It would be nice to have a button for viewing the last picture you just took. There is a menu function for holding the picture on the screen but then it takes more time to take multiple shots in a row.

Overall, I recommend this camera as a quality point-and-shoot but I also recommend purchasing a higher-end camera with better zoom and video if you are interested in those functions.

I love this camera. The pictures come out great everytime. I took a picture in a very low lit restaurant, but it came out great. The inteligent auto feature is great, since I'm not the greatest phtographer, and, therefore don't always choose the correct scene modes.

The pictures were fine, but the camera is poorly made. I was very satisfied until it fell two feet onto a carpet and would not work anymore. It is a throw away camera if it can't tolerate such a drop. I will not buy a camera with an automatic extended lens. this is the second one, no more for me!
