2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy - go with the newer model
I had this product for just over a year and the drive system completely died. While it worked, it did work great but the unit decided to give up the ghost right after the warranty expired.

I highly recommend going to the newer 2011 model (DMP-BDT310). It has all of the same features (including dual HDMI outputs) except no component and 5.1 analog output...

I ordered this player so I could play the 3D "checkerboard" format on my older (2008) Mitsubishi model WD-60735 TV. It worked beautifully with my TV in the 3D mode using the newest technology 3D blu-ray discs (Monsters vs Aliens). The player also came with a demo 3D blu-ray disc that really displayed the 3D capabilities of this player with my TV set. I felt like I was swimming with the fish in the coral formations in the ocean. You have to select "checkerboard" mode in one of the menus to use it with the older Mitsubishi/Samsung DLP sets. The rest of my setup was a pair of XPAND X102 DLP link glasses that require no emitter for use (only works on DLP TV's and projectors utilizing the light bursts from the screen/display to sync with the 3D effect for your eyes). The 3D experience easily exceeded my expectations and was definitely impressive, as good as being at the theater in my opinion. I had to select the reverse option after I turned on the 3D mode on my TV's menu as the 3D effect looked inverted in the normal option. You don't need the Mitsubishi adapter (3dc-1000 starter kit with 2 sets of emitter type glasses-$399.00 or the 3-DA1 without glasses $99.00) with this player. The adapter will be needed to watch 3D on Directv or cable or the updated PS3 as all of these methods don't provide the checkerboard format output (the adapter changes the new format to checkerboard format for these older DLP TV sets note: adapter may not work with older Samsungs-we will find that out when someone hooks one of the adapters to their older Samsung DLP set when it becomes available). So if all you're going to do is watch the new format 3D blu-rays, this player will accomplish that without the adapter for both Mitsubishi and Samsung older DLP TV sets. I really enjoyed watching the 3D movie and demo disc much more than I thought I would and feel it's worth the expense and additional equipment. I'm very glad I made this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars DLP 3D Blu Ray Heaven, July 14, 2010

This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
I bought this Blu Ray player last week for use with my Mitsubishi 3D ready TV model WD-73736. The 3D effects work perfectly with no additional adapter or computer needed. You just need to select "checkerboard" as the 3D output type during the setup menu for the Panasonic BDT350. Then connect the Blu Ray player to your TV with an HDMI cable {no need to break the bank with expensive cables, just use a high speed Cat2 v1.3 cable). If you have an audio amp, the Panasonic has an additional HDMI output jack designed to feed the Blu Ray's player's audio to your audio amps input. On your Mitsubishi TV name the input DVD Blu Ray, or HDMI1-4 depending on which TV input you plugged into. Enable the TV's 3D mode and use the reverse option. Put on a 3D disc and enjoy eye popping 3D as good as any theatre. I used Expand shutter glasses model X102 DLP link. These glasses do not require any adapter or emitter and will work with all models of Mits and Samsung 3D ready DLP TV's. This Blu Ray player should work equally well for all the legacy Samsung DLP TV's without any adapter being needed, just select 3D checkerboard and follow your TV,s directions to enable 3D. If you choose a different type of shutter glasses, you will need a compatable emitter which plugs into the VESA jack on the back of the TV to properly synch the glasses . I tried an experiment and routed the Panasonic's Main output HDMI cable directly through my Sony AV receiver HT-CT100. This receiver has V1.3 HDMI and both the 3D video and audio were both routed perfectly through it. The audio being processed by the receiver and the 3D video going to the TV's HDMI input also V1.3. I saw no degradation of the video or audio signals. So for all of us 3D DLP users, The Panasonic's second HDMI audio output is not needed and we should not have to buy newer V1.4 HDMI switches or receivers to route 3D audio and video. The Mitsubishi 3D adapter 3DA-1 will still be needed to watch Direct TV's 3D format. This adapter retails for about $99. The Mitsubishi$399 starter kit is not needed unless you also need glasses and an emitter. Now if Mitsubishi would just start shipping the adapters...

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING! ASTOUNDING! INCREDIBLE!, July 30, 2010

This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
Choose your adjective. About anything will fit, just so long as it's way beyond great! Tonight, after hooking up my new Panasonic 3D BluRay player to my Mitsubishi 73738 3D HDTV and putting on a pair of 3D glasses that came with my Mitsubishi 3D adapter kit, I could hardly believe it was just two short weeks ago that I stumbled on a 3D demo in my local Best Buy store and now here I am in my living room watching my own 3D programming. I had read in a couple of places that the 3D effect from sources for television was nothing like the 3D effect you saw in the movie theater. Well, as far as I'm concerned, it's not........it's far better!! After figuring out how to pick the proper 3D input on my TV and then selecting the checkerboard format on my 3D BluRay player and learning how to turn on my 3D glasses, I was ready to watch both my new 3D demo DVDs, one of which came with my BluRay player and the other with my Mitsubishi 3D Adapter Kit. Both contained programming that was nothing short of mind boggling. Those out here who have raved about the coral reef segment actually understated things as far as I'm concerned. But the one selection that made me actually gasp and then laugh out loud was the Tour of Rome selection which showed an overhead shot of a juggler in action, where suddenly those three white balls actually seemed to be flying into my living room!! Just amazing!! And, the Grand Canyon segment from the perspective of the front of a raft going through some rapids on the Colorado River made me actually reach up to protect my face from the water, which appeared to be splashing into my living room.

Now I can only eagerly await my first sporting event in 3D. If it's even half as good as these demos I've seen, I will feel every penny I spent was more than worthwhile! In buying all this 3D equipment now I really went against my usual way of doing things. Normally, whenever a new technology appears on the scene, I do as much research as I can and then wait to see which of any possible competing formats becomes predominant. I also wait for the prices to come down, which they invariably do. But there are just those rare times (and for me this was one of them) where I say to hell with the cost, do the research and then go ahead and spend the money. For me, after seeing 3D in action, it was just one technology I wanted and wanted NOW!

And, I haven't even gotten into all the other features listed for this BluRay player which, from the look of things, are going to be pretty challenging for this 72 year old brain. But I do know the capability of being able to wirelessly access online movies and other materials is going to be even more amazing yet.

Like the man said, "You only go around once....but if you work it right....once is enough!"

5.0 out of 5 stars It's not a gimmick!..., July 17, 2010

This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
Im using this 3D player with my Mitsubishi WD-60737 and the Xpand X102 glasses and I couldn't be happier! The player came with a demo disc with several short clips of 3D material and its a very good intro into 3D! You can tell, though, that the demo makers are still learning how and what to film for 3D. It's all so new at this point.

I started out with the corral reef demo, I read so much about, and I was initally overwhelmed! There was so much stuff going on I couldn't focus and it was distracting. After a few more viewings I just focused on a single object like a section of corral or an individual fish and now I can see just how amazing this really is. The other clips are good but it was the Grand Canyon clip the looked increadible. It was nearly as impressive as Avatar.

This Panny is a great buy and I cant wait until more 3D movies become available for the home. This is not a gimmick or a little niche market, this is the future and it is already saturating the A/V industry. Get yours when you're ready. You wont want to go back!

I'm a bit dissapointed with Panasonic. This player should have lasted a lot longer.

This is the only player I'm aware of that supports the 3D "Checkerboard" output format needed by 2008 120Hz "3D Ready" Mitsubishi and Samsung DLP HDTVs. I have a Samsung HL67A750 and it works great with this player. I'm using the Xpand X102 DLP-link glasses. Combo is working fine for me - not quite as flicker-free as the newer 240Hz TVs, but still very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars All alone in a niche market, December 2, 2010
This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
I have a Mitsu DLP that requires 3-D checkerboard input. I also have a HDMI 1.3 receiver. As such, I would need a dual hdmi 3-D bluray player. Only the Panny BDT350 and the Sammy C-6900/7900 has dual hdmi outputs...but only the Panny has the ability to output checkerboard. With the Sammy, going to have to purchase a Mitsu checkerboard converter kit. Purchasing the additional hardware for the Sammy was not much of an issue; I was more concerned about performance. Note, both the Panny BDT350 and the Sammy C-7900 are the top of the line models. Hence expect similar performance. My choice came down to these two models.

Professional reviews suggest both output class leading-excellent bluray/3-D. Because of the 3-D spec units, the internal processor has been upgraded substantially over bluray only players. Start up speeds and video quality has improved substantially over their bluray only models. The Panny can even compete with the vaulted PS3. Even if you do not wish to use the 3D features, both units bluray performance upgrade is worth the purchase. For standard DVD upconverson, both the Panny and Sammy are class leaders with the nod going for the Panny.

When it comes to audio, the Panny takes it. Panny has always been known to produce audiophile like sound and the BDT350 does not disappoint. Something the Sammy has to mature and improve upon. Especially if you will also be using the player for CD playback.

When it comes to internet streaming, the Sammy take the cake. Panny appears to be playing catch up yet with the whole streaming process. For me, streaming is less of a criteria so my choice went to the Panny---Great HD and SD video, excellent CD sound, no 3D adapter needed for the Mitsu, and less buggy operation than the Sammy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I expected in a 3D Blu-ray player, December 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
After considerable research I focused in on the shutter-based 3D solution. The result was extremely satisfying, matching the other reviews and reports from similar customers. The fixed polarized solutions fail with any head tilt or angle of viewing outside the sweet spot. The Blu-ray player arrived in perfect condition, functioned as advertised, and has a wonderful bright, crisp, and balanced playback. The supplier was prompt, careful in shipping and offered an excellent price. The player was part of a combined purchase with the Panasonic TY-EW3D10U 3D Active Shutter glasses and the Panasonic TC-65VT25 65 inch 3D Viera Plasma HDTV. All the purchases work together as expected and have met all expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really, Really Like this One, August 28, 2010
This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
Bought the DMP-BDT350 to replace the Sony PS3 that my Son took to College.

Kind of like upgrading from a Pentium 4 to an i7 Processor! Boots and Loads soooo much faster. My display is a Samsung 57" LED driven DLP, and it looks Superb!

BIG NOTE here though... bought mine at Best Buy which is usually over-priced... for only $439... $50 cheaper that the inflated price here !!!
