5.0 out of 5 stars Good Protection for Lens
Even if you don't buy this to use different filters, consider getting it and a 46mm UV filter just to protect your expensive lens at all times. If the lens cap gets knocked off, the worst that can happen is you get dust on your filter. If you're hard on your cameras, this is a must-have. [No I /can't/ justify the price for this small tube.]

3.0 out of 5 stars How could they get it wrong?
I bought this for my LX-3 because I got tired of fussing with the lens cap. The LX-3 lens is not designed to take a protective filter, and you must use this tube, screwed on over the lens, to provide for filters, accessory wide-angle lenses and what-not. It's a milled, steel tube with no moving parts, and the down-side is that, when attached, it adds a protuberance to an...

5.0 out of 5 stars The missing part for your Leica D-Lux 4 or Panasonic LX3, September 25, 2009

For the two dollars it probably cost to manufacture this part, it should have been included with these cameras. Anyway, you should get this to protect and enhance your lens. These two cameras are unique in their capabilities. With this, you can do even more - go really wide angle or use filters to get more of the effect you want without photoshopping each frame. Worth the high price that makes a system camera out of these little point and shoots. Another useful bit of kit is the Metz AF48 flash for olympus, panasonic, and leica. Also expensive but worth it. Costs about the same as the Panasonic flash but has more power. Go light, be quick, get the shot!

It will also fit the Leica D-Lux 4. There's a ring around the camera lens that is removed and this conversion tube, treaded on both ends, will replace the ring. This tube will take 46mm filters and is deep enough to allow the lens to move in and out. I didn't notice any vignetting. Of course, with this conversion tube attached, the really cool camera case can't be used. You'll have to do what you used to do with your SLR -- in-the-field accessory swapping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic DMW-LA4 Conversio0n Adapter, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Panasonic DMW-LA4 Conversion Adapter (Electronics)
It took a while to get this product but it was worth the wait. This beauty now adds protection to my LX3 lens and I'm now able to use my UV and polarizing filter (PF), useful to get those veiling effects on waterfalls I love to take. The PF enables me to set a slow shutter speed while having great dof. Woohoo let go on a photo-shoot!

I bought this for my LX-3 because I got tired of fussing with the lens cap. The LX-3 lens is not designed to take a protective filter, and you must use this tube, screwed on over the lens, to provide for filters, accessory wide-angle lenses and what-not. It's a milled, steel tube with no moving parts, and the down-side is that, when attached, it adds a protuberance to an otherwise compact camera. I'll betcha you don't use it much. It is specific to the LX-3; the newer models use a different tube.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality adapter, May 15, 2011

I wanted to use filters on my Panasonic LX3 so an adapter is required. This one is made by Panasonic, the quality is superb, the fit is perfect. With the adapter on and a filter mounted, the camera takes on a rather professional looking appearance. A lot of money for a little piece of metal, but it is precision made and feels like a very high quality adapter.

The item is fine. Well made, etc. However, it was advertised as an accessory for the Panasonic DMC FZ35. The camera has threads to fit filters on its lens. No adapter is required. Amazon needs to do better job either in describing the features of the camera ( stat ing whether or not it has threads on a lens)or in advertising/suggesting accessories for products. I had to send it back as it was not needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Panasonic DMC-FZ35!, June 21, 2010
This review is from: Panasonic DMW-LA4 Conversion Adapter (Electronics)
You need this to adapt the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 or DMC-FZ28 camera to a 55mm lens. It screws to the camera body and a 55mm lens screws to the adapter. The adapter is made of metal and is very strong and light. Two lenses that will work with the adapter are the Panasonic DMW-LT55 55mm Tele Conversion Lens for Panasonic FZ7, FZ30, FZ18, and FZ50 Digital Cameras and the Olympus TCON-1.7x Telephoto Converter Lens.

This is a nice accessory for my LX-3 - I use it to attach a polarizing filter. It is good quality metal, with nicely-machined threads for the filters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and Necessary Accessory - pity so expensive, February 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic DMW-LA4 Conversion Adapter (Electronics)
Given that the LX-3's beautiful lens is unprotected, the adapter really is an essential accessory to have with the camera. The construction, quality and machining are excellent. I use it with a 46 to 52mm step up adapter so I can use my other camera filters with the LX-3.

Given the price of the LX-3, it is a pity that Panasonic does not provide this with the camera.
