The H1000 came with an MSRP of $2999 in late 1999. Panasonic with the H1000 and Toshiba with the SD-5109 were the first to introduce progressive scan DVD players, and they had a huge impact on the home theater market.Both Panasonic and Toshiba held their prog scan players off the market for many months due to copy protection issues, otherwise we might have had a prog scan player available in 1998. By mid-2000 more progressive scan players would come on the market at lower prices (still high by today's standards) and the H1000 would fade from the scene. |
