Took me about 5 minutes to install the TY-ST08K, and then I forgot all about it. Works like a charm. Obviously I did not get a defective unit as J. Leo, below. One key is to buy from a reputable dealer. On Amazon or Ebay there is the possibility of leaving feedback for the seller, which gives some security towards getting a good unit.

The only negatives are that the stand is not adjustable and basically is just a firm solid support; also, the cables have a tight clearance and you may find it challenging to connect/disconnect them. I have not found this to be a significant issue for me, but it is worth mentioning.

The TY-ST08K may seem overpriced and probably is, but is manufactured just for your Panasonic plasma and is sturdy, heavy metal. If you intend to mount your Panasonic th-42pwd8uk on a table, then you need it. See my review on the th-42pwd8uk. I give this model four stars due to what I feel is a high price for a mass of metal.

I comparison-shopped extensively searching for alternative solutions. Look and you will find that other stands/pedestals run many hundreds of dollars. One would almost think the manufacturers had colluded to maintain an artificially high price for what is a very simple and inexpensive apparatus. An artisan with moderate skill in crafts would do well to build his own--and sell it here or on Ebay. That is a potential path to sweet profits in today's marketplace.

Not much to say about this stand. It fits well, is sturdy and looks good. It is heavier than i was expecting but provides a very stable base.

This tv stand looks great. it's sturdy and works well. the only problem is my boyfriend had some trouble with the screws when putting it together. they got stripped in the holes so he had to go to home depot and get some tools to get the screws out and drill them in a different spot than indicated on the instructions.
