5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent masonary drill, plumbers and leccys take note!, February 24, 2004
This review is from: Panasonic EY6932GQKW 15.6 Volt Hammer Drill & Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have used Makita, Dewalt and Bosch cordless drills before I purchased my panasonic. And nothing! can beat this drill for performance.

PROS:

1. With a decent drill bit, will drill through anything except cast concrete.

2. Small and compact, very usefull if working up step ladders. I find bigger drills more clumsy and akward since using my panasonic.

3.Excellent battery life and excellent chargers. If battery is too hot it will wait untill the battery has cooled down before charging, If too cold it will give the battery a slow charge to prevent damage.

4.Lockable chuck is a work of genuis, bits will never slip out ever!.

5.Plenty of torque to shame most drill drivers.

CONS:

1.Cheap plasticy case.

2.No slip ring on the chuck.

3.Thats it!

This drill is a masonary drill first and a screwdriver second, hence the pistol grip shape and only five torque settings. It's durable too as it is has has a lot of abuse since I've had mine and it performs as good as the day I bought it. Buy one and you will not be dissapointed!.

1.0 out of 5 stars nice package mediocre performer, December 9, 2006
This review is from: Panasonic EY6932GQKW 15.6 Volt Hammer Drill & Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this drill to replace a well used porter cable 14.4 volt and suppliment my porter cable corded hammer drill. I am a plumber of 15 years who started with black+decker and makita 9.6 tools in 1991 then switched to porter cable products in the mid 90's Milwaukee is the perferred power tools for plumbers but their cordless tools left much to be desired in the 90's. I purchased this panasonic drill on in 2001 and got rid of it in 2003. I was told by the salesman that this was a top grade product so I purchased it. Overall the drill was reliable was never serviced BUT it lacked TORQUE even in low gear whereas I could use large wood auger bits with arm breaking torque of my porter cable this drill could only run spade bits. In hammer drill mode took twice to three times the time to drill holes in concrete as my corded hammer drill, using small 3/16 tapcon drill bits. After 18 monthes of daily use i noticed the run time on the batteries was getting shorter so I rertired this tool after 22 months of service after which batteries were down to just a few minutes of useful run time. The good news the drill had good balance I loved the locking action of the chuck but overall the highly rated nickel- metal batteries and lack of high drilling torque sent me looking for a new drill there are just better drill out there for less money with more power,Im glad I kept my aging porter cable 14.4 drill beat up but still running strong on original batteries after 11 years. Mabye good for do it your selfer, but not for tradesman, for certain jobs corded tools just cost less work better. Panasonic needs to stick to tv's and stereos or reduce the price of their tools, tradesmen will continue to buy porter cable, milwaukee and bosch.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent drill, January 13, 2007
By
carpenter (milwaukee, wi) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Panasonic EY6932GQKW 15.6 Volt Hammer Drill & Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am a carpenter who just received this drill as a replacement to a milwaukee 14.4v cordless. Wow what a difference!!! All of our carpenters are switching to these drills and I can see why. This drill is so light compared to my milwaukee, it has tremendous torque, and the batteries last 3 times longer per charge. It even has a lock on the keyless chuck to prevent bits from falling out. My milwaukee would always let go of the bits. My milwaukee batteries only lasted 1 year before they died, but our panasonic drills and batteries last for years. I have not used the hammerdrill portion of this drill and probably will not since I have a bosch hammer drill. The hammerdrill on the panasonic is likely intended for homeowners and not professional use. Any drill when used professionally cannot be expected to last as long. With proper care panasonic drills and batteries will far outlast that of milwaukee and probably any other brand.
