Sleek sexy phone that's missing a couple critical features,

Overall, this phone set is terrific. It features a bright color screen and a sleek glossy black look. (Once you go with a color screen, it's hard to go back) The base station is surprisingly compact. Call clarity is excellent. Speakerphone is plenty loud. You can even check your answering machine through the handset! Panasonic's usual mess of small buttons has been streamlined somewhat to reduce confusion.
A slight gripe is that while Panasonic gives you a color screen, it doesn't really use it to its full potential. You have a choice of *three*, count 'em, three wallpapers. And that's it! All but one are pretty tacky. A bigger gripe revolves around the answering machine. First of all, Panasonic removed the talking Caller ID that was standard on almost all their previous models. Secondly, there is no on-phone notification that someone left a message on your machine. The *only* indication is a hard-to-see blinking red light on the base station. There is no audio notification that there are new message either (many other phones beep when there's a new message). So unless you are frequently near the base station (which I'm not), you may have messages and not know it. So in a nutshell: PROS Great sound No WiFi/Bluetooth Interference with DECT6 Compact, sleek styling Backlit keypad Good speakerphone Answering machine operation from handset. CONS No audible or visual new message alert on handset Limited customizability (few wallpapers/ringtones) No talking caller ID.

My quest for the ideal house phone is on hold for a while, if I change phones again in the near future my wife is going to hit me with something. Nevertheless, I am fairly happy with this phone, which performs well with an excellent battery life ( something that kiled the Philips DECT phone I had bought previously) and good sound quality but has some shortcomings.
A premise: I can only speak for the phone, we do not use the answering machine because we prefer the service provided by our VOIP service, Broadvoice, which allows for email notifications my wife likes. Pros Sound quality is very good. Screen is well sized, allows for easy reading of the caller ID which is a plus for my over 40 eyes, do not need to grab reading glasses which I hate enough already. Phone size is right, keys are precise and responsive, if a bit small. As I mentioned, the battery life is very good, and the phone indicates "charge complete" when on the cradle which is useful. With other phones we had, we were always rushing to put them back in the cradle after calls, this one you can leave hanging around for days. Cons Volume, volume, volume. Way too low; when I work from home people ask me to raise my voice more than with the Philips phones. It gets tiring when you are working from home. It has a dedicated Mute button (instead of a soft key appearing only during conversations), which was intelligently placed by their engineers immmediately below the Off button. I have dropped off inadvertenly from conference calls more than once because of this. It lacks a visual indicator on the unit to notify of VM. Other units have a light blinking on every unit, this model displays a message on the screen which means you have to remember to look at it when you come home. So, while I can definitively live with this phone long enough to wait for new models to appear, it's not going to be a life long affair.

Target has a great deal for this phone this week (only $78!!) and this store has good return policy (90 days without any re-stocking fee). Hence, I decide to give it a try. I feel completely satisfied and happy with this product after a few days. The phone is stylish, clear, loud, and good battery life. The speaker phone is very clear and loud, which is very important to me so that I can type on my computer at same time. In addition, it comes with lots of extra features such as colorful wall paper (only 3 to choose from), background color customization (blue, yellow, pink, green), caller ID, one-touch dial, phone book with 50 entries, date/time display, alarm clock, lots of ring tones selections ....etc. You can even "copy all" the phone book from one phone to another phone which saves me lots of time from entering the phone book again. There is a cool feature that you can assign different phone numbers to different groups (i.e. family, friend). Each group can be customized with different ring tones and background color! Also, you can listen your record messages from any phone. I don't have anything to complain about this product except I wish the phone can be packed with more cell-phone-like features such as camera and USB/blue tooth so that I can transfer my own ring tone and background pictures from my computer to the phone.

When the batteries on my years old 2.4 GHz Panasonic phones all died, again, I decided to get new phones rather than just new batteries. The extended talk time per charge, color display and backlit keys sent me out in search of this phone despite the few user reviews. I have had the phone for about a week and there are many things that I love about it. It's easy to use, small and light, bright and cheerie, and CUTE! Unfortunately, there are three problems that are deal breakers for me.
1. The sound quality in no way matches my previous Panasonics. People on the other end sound gravelly and somewhat muffled, so much so that I often have to ask them to repeat something they've said. I have tried moving the base all over the house to improve the sound, but it hasn't helped. 2. The sound totally cuts out briefly from time to time. 3. You can't put a call on hold with this phone. You can mute a call and you can transfer a call from one handset to another but you can't put it on hold. Our home is on three levels and there is a studio at the far end of our back yard. If I want to change locations, and therefore handsets during a call, I need more than the 1 minute the transfer call feature allows for getting to the new location. Except for these 3 things, I love this phone (did I mention I'm a gadget junkie). In order to get myself to return it, I have to keep reminding myself that a phone, regardless of its cuteness factor, is of no use if you can't understand the people you are talking to. Panasonic suggested I try a 5.8 GHz phone for best sound. I hope they're right.

I love this phone!,

I needed a phone with a headset jack, a system voicemail indicator, and caller ID. Initially I bought an AT&T, but I should have paid attention to the bad reviews of the AT&T phones because I soon discovered it was absolute junk. I bought this phone to replace it and the AT&T phone when straight into the trash.
I can't say anything bad about the Panasonic KX-TG8232. It does everything I wanted and more. If I try hard to find something negative to say, the only thing I can come up with is how the shiny black surface picks up fingerprints a little more than I would like, but that's it. I'll live with the fingerprints to have a phone this nice.

Panasonic KX-TG8232B DECT 6.0 Cordlesss phone w/ All Digital Answering System and Two handsets
To say this phone is one of the best I have ever used does not do it justice. It is not just another pretty face but a highly viewable treat and functional fun cordless phone with answering machine. The following is a list of very cool visual treats as well as features: 1. The exterior is a piano,(high shine) black. Very nice to look at as well as feeling tactically superior to other surfaces I have used in the past. 2. The color screen is not only attractive but very easy on the eyes. 3. There are three total wallpapers to choose from. ( small thing but wish there were a few more) 4. The sound quality is again, hands down the best I have yet to try. 5. There is a back light a handy thing to have as well as a headphone jack. (Again little thing but bluetooth would have been great but it was impossible to find in a phone worth anything). 6. The answering machine is quiet and works flawlessly. 7. the phones set up is nearly the same as a cell phone which makes it simple to set up the phone as well as add numbers. There is a 10 number one touch dial system that after set up needs only to press and hold the desired one tpouich number until the number pops up. 8. One of the coolest features is the ability to instantly transfer up to fifty numbers to the second thru ifth phone should you have that many handsets. After that when entering anything into the 1st phone it will be tranfwered to them all. Damn I like this feature. What a time saver as well as making you smile when you use it knowing you do not have to enter all that time consumiong stuff again. Keep in mind as well that you can augment the other phones as you wish. Very cool. There are many great things to recommend. Any gripes. Don't we all. The phone is light. A good thing but it does give the impression of being flimsy. This is not the case but I would be remiss to not mention it. The only other thing so far is that I would have liked it if it stored more numbers. A way around this is to not transfer numbers and use the second phone for additional numbers. I would think numbers that suit the second persons desired numbers. The last thing and something I wish these manufacturers would stop doing is to over estimate the actual battery use time. However it is still better than any other phone I've used. About four days. Without use I wouldn't know because when not in use I charge it. NmHd batteries have no memory so there is not limitation on charging. That's it. I'd give it 4.5 stars out of five because of the contact list holding only fifty numbers. I would not hesitate to recommend this phone to anyone.

I have done an incredible amount of research before purchasing this phone. My greatest concern is the 6.0 DECT technology (the phone is located right next to my computer and wireless router) and the battery life. This phone handles both perfectly. In my opinion, this phone is really good but not quite perfect. The range is great, the speakerphone is great (although I wish the volume could go a little higher), the size and the way it fits on your neck without holding the phone is great....and so far the battery life is great. If I were to change a few things, it would be to show how many messages are on the answering device, to be able to mute the extra handset when a call comes in so you don't have to hear everyone's message when they call, and the ability to store more than 50 phone numbers. It would also be really nice to store a couple phone numbers per name. Unfortunately, you have to add an entry for each phone number -- which eats up the 50 slots that are available in it's memory. If this phone could adapt a few cell phone capabilities, this would be a five star product. No questions asked.

Very nice...,
This review is from: Panasonic Expandable Digital Cordless Dect 6.0 Phone System (KXTG8232B) (Office Product)
I'm very pleased with this phone. The audio is very clear, and the speaker phone built into the handsets lacks the old-school speaker phone sound... People don't even know you've switched them over to speaker phone. Very handy. Lit buttons and intuitive cell-phone style menus make the phone easy to use.
My only real complaint is that the screen glows while the phone is charging, making this both a phone and a night-light. This 'feature' is acceptable if you decide to think of the phone as a bedside clock as well. Range is probably about 400' outside my house before the connection starts to get sketchy.

Happy with this phone,
This review is from: Panasonic Expandable Digital Cordless Dect 6.0 Phone System (KXTG8232B) (Office Product)
After reading the prior reviews, it seems like there are some quality control issues with this phone. I guess that I am one of the lucky ones as we're quite happy with this phone. There haven't been any issues of the sound cutting out, or other malfunctions.
The sound and range is better than our prior two Uniden sets(2.4 and 5.8ghz). The ringtones are a bit cheesy sounding and limited(midi sounds). The adjustable volume feature works well as it has 5 ringer levels and off. The answering machine and speaker phone work fine for us and the sound is clear. I'm not sure why others don't see they have messages or missed calls when it's clearly indicated on the handset screen? Also, the keypad is lighted in orange(it's about time Panasonic). If I had one complaint, it would be the set up wasn't exactly intuitive (to me) when it came to storing names and numbers into groups and distinctive rings, distinctive colors, etc. I found myself getting a bit frustrated while setting up those features, but once it's done- it's done(and effective). If you have multiple handsets, you have to copy your phonebook to each handset. That is easy, however the phone won't copy group saving, and distinctive rings/colors to my knowledge. Storing that information is time consuming and involves too many steps in my mind. Consider that if you aren't a techie, because I'm a bit of a techie/gadget enthusiast and programming this phone simply was a chore. I bought the set with the 3 additional handsets(c0stc0), and haven't had any issues with any of the handsets. Other than the non-intuitive, irritating menu navigation set up, I like this phone. Sharp looking unit, with good features.

Best option for DECT 6.0,

This review is from: Panasonic Expandable Digital Cordless Dect 6.0 Phone System (KXTG8232B) (Office Product)
I previously purchased the Philips DECT 6.0 and had to get rid of it for numerous reasons. This is a much better solution. The Panasonic has a really well thought out interface for its various functions and does exactly what you might expect from a modern phone. It stores up to 50 numbers in its phone book and lets you know how many slots are left before you run out of space. You can easily copy the phonebook between the handsets. It sounds great. Its buttons are backlit so you don't have to turn on the lights to dial a number. The handsets are pretty, fit well on my ear and can use a headset. My only complaints are that the answering machine has no numerical indicator for the number of messages and you only get a skimpy 18 minutes of message time, so don't forget to remotely check the machine and erase messages when you go on vacation.
