When using Intelligent Zoom, Intelligent Resolution technology lets you shoot at high zoom rates while preserving the image resolution. O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) Lock The image-stabilizing effect is increased by pressing and holding the O.I.S. Lock indication on the LCD screen, which maximizes the blur detection sensitivity. This is great for when you want to zoom at a fixed angle, like for bird watching. * Considerable blurring is generated by the shifting of the corrective lens when the camera is panned or tilted.

Soft Skin Mode

When this function detects skin tones, it softens the focus in that area. This has a skin beautifying effect, which makes wrinkles and lines appear less noticeable. Tele-Macro

You can shoot macro close-ups while maintaining a distance of 70cm from your subject. In addition, using the zoom at full magnification makes it much easier to capture extreme close-ups without your body or camera casting a shadow on the subject and while keeping the background in soft focus.

I ordered the camcorder(Panasonic HDC-SD80R) from 6 Ave through Amazon. I took advantage of free shipping and it was here before the guarantied delivery time. The camcorder was packaged well. You need to order a SD card (8 or 16Gig) class 6 or 10, Mini HDMI to Std. HDMI cable and an extra battery, and charger (the charger that comes with the unit charges the battery in the camera). The software included with the camera will allow you to edit and burn AVCHD DVD discs. These are standard DVDs that will play in many BluRay players. Now if you want to do some serious DVD editing use Roxio Creator 2010-2012(the program handles MTS files after downloading K-lite codecs) I must admit when I first got the camcorder I thought about sending it back because Windows Media Player and several other players didn't like the MTS/M2TS files and my editing software didn't recognize those files(K-lite codecs fixed those issues). The zoom, stabilization and picture quality is awesome for this price camcorder. I just got back from a trip to Manhatten and took over an hour of videos, looked at them on my 50 inch TV and still didn't need the second battery. It will fit in a shirt pocket.

I have used this for video and still pictures. The picture quality is excellent. Connecting to computer easy. It is very small and lightweight. It is comfortable for still pictures, but I cannot use the video on/off with my hand in strap. It is too awkward. Also, it does not allow you to download to computer more than once. Intended to be downloaded to disk. This was not made clear before buying. This model is low end. Missing some of features of HDC-TM80P and HDC-HS80P. But for me it is great. I am an amateur and just want to point and shot and not fuss around.

I purchase this camcorder after spending weeks researching for a camcorder with all the features I want it in a camera, the video is amazing and the features are very easy to use, for the money is the best buy out there. I purchase from Amazon and only pay $199 best buy is selling the same camcorder for $368 so if you looking for a great camcorder but don't want to spent a lot of money this is the one. I recommend purchasing the drop and spill warranty just in case and is so worth it.
