A total of 16 batteries plus 4 adapters. You can insert one AA battery in each adapter, the adapter is a spacer so that an AA battery takes up the space of a C or D battery. A rechargeable AA battery can put out more power per second than a D cell alkaline battery, so it works. Non rechargeable batteries have more of a voltage drop under heavy load than rechargeable batteries.

I usually leave them overnight and they have ALWAYS reached fully-charged state within that 6 or 8 hr time period. It depends, of course, on how far you've discharged the batteries, but assuming worst-case I think you should allow 4 hours at least. I've had very good luck with these batteries, but there was one lot that I purchased from Amazon that had some type of defect, causing them to not last as long. I use them in remote controls, toys, and mostly in LED candles and I can get a month's daily candle light (4 hours ave) before needing to recharge - much better than throwing away boxes of disposables.

Yes. There's three options available, which include either (in order) 4 AA batteries ("charger pack"), or 8 AA batteries & 2 AAA batteries ("power pack"), or 12 AA batteries & 4 AAA batteries ("super power pack").

To me, the comparison is that the eneloop can be recharged and reused hundreds if not a thousand times. The alkaline batteries end up in the landfill. (You also save money on not making trips to the store to get more batteries.) My main reason for switching was the problem of alkaline batteries corroding and ruing the contacts in several electronic devices.

It's a spacer, just a piece of plastic. You take the AA battery out and charge it

I used a US to Euro plug adaptor, which I happened to have around, luckily. But it should be provided with an Euro plug when shipped to the Euro zone (not UK). Thank you.
