Customer Reviews

Wish I could return it and get my money back.

Unfortunately, although the handset ringer can turned off, the base will always ring if someone calls.

The sound and range is very good and they work well with Vonage and the other phone system.

The phones work great. They exhibit excellent battery life and are clear in sound quality. I really love the different ring tones they have. I really like the intercom function from one station to another. Now my wife doesn't need to yell at me from upstairs - she can use the intercom function on the handset.

My only complaint with these phones is the paint they use below some of the buttons. After 2-3 weeks of usage, the paint has completely worn off. The actual buttons stay great, it's only the paint that has disappeared. This is the only phone I have had this happen with. So, as long as you remember the functions of the buttons, and don't need the painted labels, you will be fine.

This Panasonic "KX-TG4021N Cordless Phone with Answering Machine" works well and is fairly easy to setup. We bought this phone for my "aging" mother who does not handle technology well. After adjusting some of the default settings (particularly volume and number of rings before the answering machine picks up), this is proved to be a good choice for her. Here are my observations:

Pros -
+ Good Features; answering machine, speaker phone, and Caller ID
+ Easy Basic Setup; after unpacking it and allowing the battery to charge, the phone is ready for use
+ Easy Message Retrieval; answering machine messages can be retrieved from the base unit, the handset, and remotely
+ Good Range; easily covers both floors of her small house
+ No Interference; this did not conflict with the wireless router also running in her house
+ Long Battery Life; while it will likely decrease over time, the phone has a good amount of "talk time"
+ Small Base Unit; it does not take up much counter space in her kitchen

Cons -
- Cumbersome Menu; my mom and stepfather could not figure out the menus and even after reading the manual I also had some difficulty finding some settings
- All configuration is done from handset, which can be a little hard to read

Overall this has proven to be a good phone for our needs and I also like that can easily add additional handsets later, if needed.

Recommended!

Amazon offered to sell this phone with an optional headset so I assumed it had a headset jack -- the specifications don't say one way or another. However, after receiving the phone I found that in fact it doesn't support have a headset jack, but after researching on Panasonic website I found that the next model up, i.e. KX-TG4032 for a whopping $1 more does have headset jack + a couple other handy features. For the extra $1 I'd suggest the KX-TG4032

I bought this to replace an old 5.8 system with poor range.

Initial impressions:

Pros: Good price, clear sound.

Cons: No speed dial, no button to dial phone service voicemail number, screen is small, only way to tell you have a phone service voicemail is a small line on the screen. The latter means you cannot tell from across the room if you have a voicemail from your phone service-you have to pick up the phone and look at it.

Came back as I've discovered more. It is definitely going back.

The voice mail indicator does not come on until after you hit the talk button. Also, the missed call indicator goes out as soon as you put the phone back in the charger. These must be defects.

Other things I do not like: there is no way I've found to change the volume on the ringer on the base station. Also, changing volume on each handset requires a laborious trip through the menu system.

I bought this KX-TG4021N phone a little over a month ago for $36. The first issue I had was that the Amazon listing did (and still does) indirectly suggests the phone has a headset jack and it does not. Don't be misled by the "frequently bought with" suggestion of the Panasonic headset, you won't be able to use it since there is no jack. Others have suggested they were very happy with the sound quality so perhaps we just got a faulty model. But, even with the volume up all the way it was hard to hear the person you were speaking with. I returned this phone and bought the KX-TG4031B model for just a few dollars more ($39). This phone has much better sound quality, additional features, and the headset jack I wanted.

I already own an earlier version of this wireless -- the KX-TG1032. Wanted another set to give to a relative. Amazon showed that there is a newer version of this product... I went for it (KX-TG4022N). I like the fact that it has a somewhat higher antenna power output -- so it may have a bit more range -- but I was disappointed to find no headset jack, a very handy convenience for hands-free operation.

Another difference between this model and the prior one that I own is that it has no intercom button, so you have to go thru the menu to get to the intercom function. I have not perused all of the features of these phones (I'm kinda busy with other stuff in life) but I can say that the speakerphone function works well in both old and new models.

Can't comment on the voicemail function. When my current voicemail gizmo fails, this will be my backup.

The ordering and delivery were problem-free.
